Daily Fantasy College Basketball 2015: Top Player Picks for Feb. 24

Rob GoldbergFeb 24, 2015

A loaded day of college basketball gives daily fantasy players a great opportunity to put together a team that could dominate.

Not only do Tuesday's games feature some of this season's top DraftKings performers like Kris Dunn, Frank Kaminsky and Jerian Grant, but the projected high-scoring games present a chance for a number of lesser-known players to shine.

These competitors all represent some great value compared to their prices for Feb. 24.

Michael Gbinije, Syracuse ($8,400)

SYRACUSE, NY - JANUARY 13: Michael Gbinije #0 of the Syracuse Orange shoots the ball around the defense of Konstantinos Mitoglou #44 of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons during the second half at the Carrier Dome on January 13, 2015 in Syracuse, New York. S

There are few players in the country playing better than Michael Gbinije. In the month of February, he is really filling up the stat sheet while averaging 19.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and five assists in six games.

His last game against Pittsburgh was his worst fantasy performance in almost a month, and he still finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Notre Dame has one of the best offenses in the nation and should be able to come away with a win against Syracuse. However, the Fighting Irish still give up a lot of points, and Gbinije can take advantage of this with another huge game.

Danuel House, Texas A&M ($7,400)

Like Notre Dame, Arkansas has a great offense but will give up points on the other end of the court due to its pace of play. This is good news for Danuel House, who is in the midst of a great stretch of play, as noted by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports:

Texas A&M could use a big win like this to add to its resume, but it will need House to have a big overall game to pull off the upset on the road. Even if he struggles, expect a lot of shot attempts and some big numbers for the talented junior.

Devin Brooks, Creighton ($6,000)

Despite being just 6'2", Devin Brooks is a great rebounder and someone who knows how to score in the paint. That is a good skill against a DePaul defense that struggles in these areas.

According to KenPom.com, DePaul ranks 281st in the nation in offensive rebounding percentage, 323rd in defensive rebounding percentage and 325th in two-point defense.

Brooks has also been red-hot as of late, totaling at least 28 fantasy points on DraftKings in three of the last four games. If he can keep this up, he can give fantasy owners plenty of value on Tuesday.

Jake Layman, Maryland ($5,800)

The last three games have seen Jake Layman put up numbers consistent with his season averages of 13.6 points and 6.6 rebounds. Despite this, his cost on DraftKings has dropped drastically heading into Tuesday.

Feb. 11Indiana$7,200147
Feb. 14Penn St.$7,000134
Feb. 19Nebraska$6,700145
Feb. 24Wisconsin$5,800??

Wisconsin is obviously a difficult matchup that slows down the pace, but Layman still has a chance of having another solid day. Opposing head coach Bo Ryan is certainly concerned with what the forward can do, via Don Markus of The Baltimore Sun:

The junior has been an efficient scorer all year, and that should not change in the upcoming matchup.

Tommy Hamilton IV, DePaul ($4,800)

Creighton comes into this game in the bottom 10 of the nation in opposing three-point percentage, allowing teams to shoot 39.5 percent from behind the arc, according to TeamRankings.com.

Tommy Hamilton IV isn't considered a three-point shooter, but the 6'11" forward has been great from outside in Big East play, making 13 of his 21 shots. In the last three games, he has made four of his five shots from deep.

Although he is inconsistent as a scorer, DePaul's second-leading rebounder always has a chance to put up a double-double, which is great upside for the cost.

More Value Picks

Antoine Mason, Auburn ($6,100): Scoring inside is a challenge against Jordan Mickey and LSU, so Auburn will have to rely on the outside shooting of Antoine Mason, who has a combined 53 points in the last two games.

Devin Robinson, Florida ($4,700): With Florida's frontcourt getting thinner by the day, Devin Robinson has stepped up for a team in need. He has 24 points and 13 rebounds over the last two games combined and should be able to keep it up against Missouri.

Dennis Clifford, Boston College ($4,300): Coming off a great game against Notre Dame where he totaled 17 points, six rebounds and four assists, Dennis Clifford can do it again versus an undersized Pittsburgh frontcourt.

Demarcus Holland, Texas ($3,000): Although Demarcus Holland has been quiet lately, Texas will need its bench in a fast-paced game against West Virginia. If he gets some open looks, the guard has a chance to greatly outperform his cost.
