Love Returns vs. Bulls
Sunday, April 5
Love returned to action tonight, scoring 11 points and grabbing four rebounds in 31 minutes of action as the Cavaliers defeated the Bulls, 99-94.
On April 2, Chris Haynes of the Northeast Ohio Media Group reported that Love returned to practice.
Haynes reported on March 29 that Love had to leave the game against Philadelphia early after taking an elbow to the back in the fourth quarter:
Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com provided an update from Cavs coach David Blatt after the game:
Love briefly talked about the injury during a postgame interview, via The Associated Press (h/t Fox Sports): "Got some treatment on it. Feels good."
Love has enjoyed mostly good health in his maiden season with the Cavaliers. Other than a slight back problem in January and a poke to the eye in February, the going hasn't been tough for Love injury-wise.
However, the All-Star's play on the court has been a bit inconsistent, and it is discouraging that this latest ailment is related to his back.
Finding chemistry with fellow big names LeBron James and Kyrie Irving has been elusive for Love. Regardless, Cleveland has righted the ship after early struggles to rise among the best in the Eastern Conference.
Backup power forward Tristan Thompson brings a bit more energy to the frontcourt on the inside and has starting experience from the beginning of his career in Cleveland, but the Cavs will need Love as they push to make a run in the playoffs.
