Chandler Jones Says He Wants to Fight His Brother Jon 'Bones' Jones for Charity

Dan CarsonFeb 11, 2015

If you're into star-studded fantasy brawls that will never actually play out in real life, you may be interested to hear that Chandler Jones wants to beat his brother into submission for a good cause.

Chandler, defensive end for the New England Patriots and younger brother to razor-limbed death-mantis Jon "Bones" Jones, says he wants to fight Jon and give the proceeds to charity.

TMZ reports that the defensive end would like to set up a one-round exhibition fight with Jon. Chandler believes he currently has enough of a size advantage to win.

“Me and my brother used to fight all the time when we were young,” Chandler told TMZ. “I’m pretty sure I can take him down now. I am way bigger than he is.”

This is not not true.

A brief look at their physical stats shows Chandler, 24, is listed at 6’5”, 265 pounds, while Jon, 27, clocks in at far leaner 6’4", 205 pounds. TMZ also credits Chandler with a 85.75” reach—1.25” longer than Jon’s.

What these metrics don’t illustrate, however, is how Jon has more bodies on his record than a graveyard. The defending UFC light heavyweight champ is 21-1 in his mixed martial arts career, with his only loss being a disqualification for illicit brutality ("illegal downward elbows").

Chandler wants to tangle with that—for philanthropy's sake, of course.

“It will be fun if we actually did a one-round match for charity...that would be fun,” Chandler said. “If I win, he will have to donate to the charity of my choice and vice versa.”

Chandler already has his strategy laid out.

“I would just throw him to the ground,” Chandler said, like so many others.

Seeing as each man is a young star at the top of his game (Chandler is hot off a Super Bowl win, and Jon is scarcely a month departed from his last title defense), it’s difficult to see either side’s management granting approval for even the hokiest exhibition tilt.

Alas, if only there were a venue where celebrity dream fights could play out in spectacular fashion without anyone getting hurt. Oh well.

Maybe 10 years from now, when they’re paunchy and hawking miracle cleaners on QVC, we’ll see Jones vs. Jones get the green light for the ultimate sibling battle.

Dan is on Twitter. He would pay roughly $300 to watch an honest, five-round throwdown between these two.
