NFL Draft 2015: Most Surprising Selections in Todd McShay's Latest Mock Draft
At this stage of the process, everyone has a very different opinion on how the 2015 NFL draft will play out. However, some predictions are more surprising than others.
The next couple of months will see the nation's top prospects likely to move up and down draft boards significantly after events such as the scouting combine and various draft days. Meanwhile, the needs for each NFL teams will change based on movement in free agency and other factors.
This means even the best mock drafts will likely be far off once April rolls around.
Still, the latest offering by ESPN's Todd McShay (subscription required) features some questionable selections based either on team need or when the player is selected. Here is a look at the expert's latest mock draft with a breakdown of the more surprising picks.

No. 12 Cleveland Browns: T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh

It's true the Cleveland Browns could use an upgrade at right tackle, but this certainly shouldn't be the top priority. Khaled Elsayed of Pro Football Focus ranked the offensive line as the No. 6 unit in the entire NFL thanks to the talent of Joe Thomas and a healthy Alex Mack.
With bigger needs on the roster, the Browns would be fine waiting until later rounds to help fill this position instead of reaching for T.J. Clemmings this early.
A loaded defensive line class might be a better target for Cleveland if one of the top options fall, although the biggest need remains wide receiver. Former Pro Bowler Josh Gordon is suspended for the upcoming season and it's difficult to trust any other options on the current roster.
McShay has the Browns selecting Devin Funchess with the team's second first-round pick (No. 19), but the Michigan receiver/tight end remains raw and likely far from contributing. If they can instead pick a safer target like Kevin White, DeVante Parker, Devin Smith or Jaelen Strong, they have to do it (Amari Cooper will likely be long gone).
At that point, defensive line to help fix the No. 32 rush defense in the league would be the smartest choice.
No. 18 Kansas City Chiefs: Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Missouri
This is a pick that isn't necessarily incorrect, but certainly intriguing. The Kansas City Chiefs definitely need help at wide receiver after going the entire season without a touchdown at the position and Dorial Green-Beckham is a serious talent.
Sigmund Bloom of Footballguys.com gave his impression on the former Missouri receiver:
The problem with Green-Beckham stems from off-field trouble. He was dismissed from the Tigers before the 2014 season after various legal incidents, including two arrests for marijuana-related offenses.
After a disaster-filled season of legal troubles in the NFL, drafting a player with this history is certainly a scary proposition.
Bleacher Report's Ian Kenyon sums up the possibilities for Green-Beckham:
The talented player will certainly be drafted somewhere, but the issue is if the first round is too high for this much risk. Then again, all it takes is one team to pull the trigger on draft day.
No. 31 Seattle Seahawks: Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia

There is certainly risk involved with drafting Todd Gurley after the talented running back tore his ACL last season. As good as he was at Georgia, there is no guarantee he returns to his previous level of motion and you don't want to waste a first-round pick on someone who might not play for a long time.
That being said, Gurley is an incredible talent who could be a game-changer at the next level. Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel was one of many impressed watching his film:
The question is simply why the Seattle Seahawks would use a first-round selection on a running back.
John Boyle of the Everett Herald quoted head coach Pete Carroll about Marshawn Lynch receiving a contract extension:
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com also reported the running back was offered a huge deal before the Super Bowl.
Even if Lynch doesn't return, the Seahawks already have potential replacements in Robert Turbin and 2013 second-round pick Christine Michael. It makes sense to give these players a chance before using another high pick at the position.
Gurley will likely help some NFL team in the future, but it seems unlikely it will be Seattle.
