Anderson to Return in Limited Role vs. FSU

Thursday, March 12

According to ESPN, via Mark Giannotto of The Washington Post, Anderson will play in a limited role off the bench against Florida State in the ACC tournament.

On March 9, Whitelaw Reid of The Daily Progress reported that Anderson had done light shooting but would have to go through a hard practice to be cleared for a return to the lineup.

On March 5, Brian Hamilton of Sports Illustrated reported that Anderson underwent an appendectomy.

Anderson Fractures Pinkie, Out 4-6 Weeks

Friday, Feb. 7

The team announced during the game that Anderson injured his hand and that he was questionable to return, but he never did. The team later announced that Anderson had a fractured finger on his left hand and would undergo surgery that would sideline him for four to six weeks.

Anderson tweeted out encouraging words after the announcement was made:

Few players are more important to the Cavaliers than Anderson, so the team will feel his absence on the court. Entering the game, he was averaging 13.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. For a team that's averaging a little less than 70 points per game, losing scoring production like that is massive.

Virginia's stingy defense will ensure that it doesn't fall off a cliff or anything, but there's no question that Anderson will need to get back in time for the ACC and NCAA tournaments a little over a month from now.
