Chris Hall, Adam Ulatoski named to 2009 Outland Trophy watch list

Seniors C Chris Hall and OT Adam Ulatoski have been selected to the watch list for the 2009 Outland Trophy, which honors the nation’s top interior lineman, the Football Writers Association of America has announced.

Hall, who is also on the watch list for the 2009 Rimington Trophy as the nation’s top center, is fifth-year lineman who has played in 31 games, starting 23, during his career. In that span, he has started at least one game at all five positions along the offensive line. He started 11 games at center in 2008, missing two games with a knee injury and was tabbed second-team All-Big 12. He is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree and a three-time member of UT’s Athletics Director’s Honor Roll. Hall graduated this spring with a degree in communications.

Ulatoski, who is also on the watch list for the 2009 Lombardi Award as the nation’s top lineman, has played in 36 games at offensive tackle, starting 30 (14 at LT/16 at RT), during his career. A two-time All-Big 12 selection, he started all 13 games at left tackle in 2008. Ulatoski is also a two-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection and was a first-team Academic All-District honoree last year. Ulatoski graduated in December 2008 with a degree in corporate communications and is enrolled in graduate school for advertising.

In 2008, the duo helped the UT offense average 42.4 points (fifth NCAA), 475.8 total yards (ninth NCAA), 308.3 passing yards (seventh NCAA) and 167.5 rushing yards (41st NCAA) per game. Texas’ 4,008 passing yards set a school record, while its 551 points and 6,185 total yards rank second on UT’s single-season list.

The winner will be selected Dec. 10 on the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show, and the trophy will be presented Jan. 14, 2010 in Omaha, Neb.

The Football Writers Association of America, a non-profit organization founded in 1941, consists of more than 1,100 men and women across North America who cover college football for a living. The membership includes journalists, broadcasters and publicists, as well as key executives in all the areas that involve the game. The FWAA works to govern areas that include game day operations, major awards, a national poll and its annual All-America team.? ?The Outland Trophy is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA)
