Marshawn Lynch Not Fined for 'Beast Mode' Hat, Super Bowl Media Day Comments
When Marshawn Lynch took the stage during the Super Bowl media day last week, his line about being there so he wouldn't get fined has reportedly paid off.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, citing NFL spokesman Michael Signora, Lynch fulfilled his media obligations and isn't subject to a fine:

There was also speculation that Lynch's "Beast Mode" attire worn during the media session would result in a fine, but Schefter noted that it met the criteria needed to avoid punishment:
The potential for a fine for Lynch's hat choice was odd, as noted by Daniel Kaplan of the SportsBusiness Journal, because it's made by a company that sponsors NFL hats:
Lynch has always had a unique relationship with the NFL and media. He clearly doesn't like to talk unless there's something to say or the person he's talking to has a relationship with him, but league rules mandate that players make themselves available to the media.
Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk provided comments from Lynch, who expressed his thoughts on the media during his final media appearance leading up to the Super Bowl:
"All week I done told you all what’s up. And for some reason you all come back and do what you did. I don’t know what image you all are trying to portray me, but it don’t matter what you all think, what you all say about me. Because when I go home at night, the people I look in the face, my family, that I love, that’s all that matters to me. So you all can go make up whatever you’re going to make up.
"
Credit Lynch for finding a way to manipulate the system so he could fulfill what the league requires without being fined again. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but this is what the star running back does, and no one is going to change him.
