Bleacher Report WWE Analyst Dan Pecoraro discusses the Fast Lane main event in the video below:
The match and its stipulation came about after The Authority goaded Reigns into putting his WrestleMania main event spot up for grabs at Fast Lane:
It was a part of the announcement WWE had been teasing for the past few days. WWE.com's James Wortman wrote earlier in the day that Triple H would address any lingering controversies from the 2015 Royal Rumble.
Lance Storm hoped against hope that The Authority would let Curtis Axel have his rightful shot at WrestleMania, since technically he was never eliminated from the Royal Rumble match:
In the end, it was simply about Reigns facing the winner of Bryan/Rollins at Fast Lane. With Spandex's Brandon Stroud was one of many WWE fans underwhelmed with the news:
At least at this point, there seems to be little chance that Bryan actually beats Reigns at Fast Lane and headlines WrestleMania for a second year in a row. That result would also completely invalidate the Rumble match, one of the most important events on the WWE calendar.
More likely, WWE will hope that a match with Bryan will put Reigns over a little stronger before the biggest show of the year. It's not a bad strategy, since wrestling Bryan will likely help Reigns look like a million bucks and accentuate all of his positive aspects.
Either way, the match should help Fast Lane gain a little more traction with the section of fans who might have skipped it altogether ahead of WrestleMania.
