UNC vs. Louisville: Live Score, Highlights and Reaction

Kevin McRaeJan 31, 2015

It must’ve felt like deja vu for all the wrong reasons for Roy Williams’ Tar Heels.

The No. 10 Louisville Cardinals stormed back from 18 points down in the second half to shock No. 13 North Carolina 76-66 in overtime on Saturday afternoon at the KFC Yum! Center.

The Cardinals (18-3, 6-2 ACC) trailed 43-25 just over two minutes into the second half, prompting coach Rick Pitino to call his second timeout in as many minutes.

Whatever he said must’ve worked, because the Cardinals outscored the Tar Heels 53-25 over the remainder of the second half and overtime, giving the legendary coach his first career victory over the Tar Heels in seven attempts.

With North Carolina big-men Kennedy Meeks and Brice Johnson in foul trouble, Montrezl Harrell was able to take over the game. He finished with 22 points and 15 boards, including an insane alley-oop slam with 12:44 remaining to bring the crowd back into the game and spark a Louisville run.

North Carolina (17-5, 7-2 ACC) had its six-game ACC winning streak snapped with the loss.

One of those wins came against Louisville in Chapel Hill, with the Tar Heels erasing a 13-point deficit of their own to steal a win on a Marcus Paige layup with just nine seconds to play in regulation.

The Tar Heels got killed on the glass in the second half, turning the ball over more times than they hit field goals and allowing the Cardinals to climb off the mat.

Paige led North Carolina with 15 mostly-quiet points.

Johnson was a non-factor, contributing two points and 10 boards, fouling out with just under four minutes remaining in regulation.
