Daily Fantasy College Basketball 2015: Top Player Picks for Jan. 27
Excelling in daily fantasy sports is all about finding value. Luckily, there is plenty of that available in DraftKings' college basketball contests for Jan. 27.
There are plenty of top players available at high costs, but these men can help give you more bang for the buck.

Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑

When spending a big portion of your funds on one player, you want someone who will be consistent with the opportunity for a huge game. Josh Richardson fills both of these quotas in his game against Arkansas.
The Razorbacks have been successful this season with one of the top scoring offenses in the nation. Unfortunately, this comes at the expense of a defense allowing 72 points per game. Kurt Voigt of The Associated Press noted fans shouldn't expect much better this year:
Richardson saw this when Tennessee faced Arkansas earlier in the month, totaling 20 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Just as important, the senior has shown the ability to fill up the stat sheet like this almost every time out. He has scored at least 20 fantasy points on DraftKings in all but one game this year. Putting a consistent competitor like Richardson against a fast-paced opponent that can't play defense is a great recipe for success.
Derrick Walton Jr., Michigan ($6,900)
Starting a player against Nebraska is a scary proposition. The Cornhuskers have been excellent defensively and keep games close by slowing down the game and limiting possessions.
That being said, Derrick Walton Jr. has stepped up his game since Michigan announced its leading scorer, Caris LeVert, would be out for the season with a foot injury.
Walton has led the Wolverines in scoring in each of the past two games while also adding 12 rebounds and five assists in this time. Michigan coach John Beilein likes what he has seen from the point guard, via Brendan F. Quinn of MLive Media Group:
Look for the point guard to keep up the production on a team that lacks go-to scorers.
Melvin Johnson, VCU ($5,900)
VCU's frenetic pace might cause problems for opponents, but the Rams love it offensively. The upbeat tempo often leads to easy layups in transition as well as open three-point shots as opponents lose their man.
This is big for Melvin Johnson, who is second on the team in scoring behind Treveon Graham. The junior isn't always the most efficient scorer, but he is always willing to shoot with 11.4 attempts per game, including more than seven shots per game from beyond the arc.
Since shooting percentage isn't part of the fantasy contest, you only have to worry about his output. As long as he has even a decent shooting day, this should be just fine.
Kenny Gaines, Georgia ($5,500)

Georgia has been playing extremely well lately, sitting at 4-2 in the SEC after starting 0-2 in conference play. One of the strengths of the team is the scoring depth, with five players averaging double figures and each of them capable of leading the squad in scoring.
Despite this balance, each of J.J. Frazier, Charles Mann and Marcus Thornton cost more than $7,000 in Tuesday's DraftKings contests.
With this in mind, it seems smarter to save money by drafting junior Kenny Gaines. The guard currently ranks second on the team with 11.8 points per game and is also second in three-point shooting among qualified players at 36.9 percent from behind the arc.
Gaines' ability to light up the scoreboard on a given night makes him a worthwhile bet instead of his higher-priced teammates.
Isaac Copeland, Georgetown ($4,900)
With L.J. Peak and Jabril Trawick both limited by injuries against Marquette, Isaac Copeland came through with a surprising effort to carry the team to victory with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Although the forward had struggled with consistency through the early part of the year, it seems like he has finally earned the trust of head coach John Thompson III while seeing his minutes increase in each of the last six games.
Over the last three games, Copeland is averaging 14.7 points and six rebounds to become a consistent option alongside Joshua Smith in the Georgetown frontcourt. While he might still be difficult to trust for fantasy competitors, he has plenty of upside for someone with such a low cost.
