Pogge Off To Anaheim, But Who's Out Front?????
Hey Leafs Nation...So our beloved Leafs have have sent Justin Pogge to the Ducks in Anaheim for a draft pick and Joey MacDonald...Well that's just great for Justin who deserves a chance to show what he has to offer...His few outings for the Leafs last season were horrible, he wasn't horrible just the games in general were horrible. The team played very loose in front of him leaving him all alone on several occasions.
With the addition of the "Monster" Jonas Gustavsson (did I spell that right???) Pogge was in limbo and would have been riding the press box most of the season likely. Luckily for Pogge he's liked by G.M. Brian Burke so he found a new home for the goalie where he won't be under as much pressure and may be able to flourish. I wish him well.

So now if Toskala is healthy and with the addition of some tougher defence and the "Monster" the Leafs need to start looking for some help up front. I could be wrong but I believe we're not getting the draft pick until 2010-2011 so that won't be helping us this season, and unless they plan on making a 30 plus goal scorer out of Joey MacDonald, the Leafs still have some concerns up front.
Not to say that we don't already have a good front end Leaf Nation...I like our forwards. In fact I believe these are some of the best players we've had in years. They may not win all the time but they come to play 60 minutes a night something the team lacked in my opinion over the past few years.
I'm hoping Blake can continue his scoring ways of the latter part of the season, getting off to a good start this year could be the difference between 20 goals and 30-40 goals and the reason we grabbed him up in the first place.
We've already established some toughness with a certified enforcer named Colton Orr, now the our beloved Leafs can roam the ice without fear...
If the good lord is looking down favourably, then Stajan, Ponikarovsky, and Hagman are due for break out seasons. I'm looking for Alex to close in on the 30 plus goals this season...Easy Leaf Nation, I'm looking and hoping, but the man is capable of it, let's just have some faith.
I believe the biggest piece to the puzzle here is Mikhail Grabovski, if he can live up to his potential and start finding the net on a regular basis the Leafs may not have to go shopping right away for an elite or power forward until trade deadline time.
A lot of you our probably gasping and holding your hands to your mouths thinking...is this guy for real???? I'll take some of what he's smoking...but I'm telling you Sports Fans, this team is young, talented and full of heart. The biggest issue is... Goal tending...Will Toskala stop the puck???? If not can the "Monster" step up? If not then the elite forward isn't going to help the Leafs anyway. If Heatley is still available then he would and should be in our line-up...I bet we could all sleep a little better at night knowing we had a legitimate 30 plus goal scorer, but our Leafs our fine Leaf Nation...they really are...Just a little faith...a little luck...some prayer...and a whole lot of swearing at the referee's and these boys should do just fine...
This team is deep and will go long in to the playoffs...and if we add a Heatley...well that just sweetens the pot...until next time Leaf Nation...may all your dreams be Blue...
