Milwaukee Bucks point guard Kendall Marshall has a torn right ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2014-15 NBA season.
The Bucks' official Twitter account posted the ominous update on Marshall's status Saturday:
Andrew Gruman of Fox Sports Wisconsin weighed in on the situation:
When he has gotten the opportunity to see significant minutes, Marshall has made the most of them in his brief NBA career. The 23-year-old was the 13th overall pick in the 2012 draft, but he didn't pan out with the Phoenix Suns.
Then Marshall thrived in the up-tempo offense masterminded by Mike D'Antoni with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, averaging eight points and 8.8 assists per contest in 29 minutes.
Brandon Knight has established himself as the clear starter to run Milwaukee's offense, but Marshall has flashed at times this season to suggest he could lead the second unit. Thus, Marshall's absence could loom larger for the Bucks than meets the eye.
For a squad that's already lost lottery-pick rookie Jabari Parker to a torn ACL and Larry Sanders to at least a 10-game suspension, the news on Marshall doesn't bode well for Milwaukee as it tries to stay in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
