Parker and Duncan Move to 2nd Place on Wins List for Duo
With Friday's 110-96 win over the Portland Trail Blazers, Tim Duncan and Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs moved past Kevin McHale and Robert Parish of the Boston Celtics to take sole possession of second place on the NBA's all-time wins list for a duo, per NBA History on Twitter.
The victory was Parker and Duncan's 657th while playing together in the regular season, leaving them 249 behind Karl Malone and John Stockton (906) of the Utah Jazz for second place.
While unlikely to ever break Malone and Stockton's remarkable record, Parker and Duncan aren't exactly short on accomplishments since Parker entered the league as the 28th overall draft pick in 2001.
The duo has 13 playoff appearances in 13 opportunities, and the Spurs' current 25-16 record points strongly in the direction of a 14th postseason trip in 14 years.
The 13 playoff trips have impressively led to five NBA Finals appearances out of the stacked Western Conference, with the Spurs taking home the Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy at the end of the 2002-03, 2004-05, 2006-07 and 2013-14 seasons.
Of course, it wouldn't be fair to mention Parker and Duncan without giving a nod to 37-year-old guard Manu Ginobili, who began his NBA career in 2002-03, just one season after Parker.
Back in November, the trio earned its 500th regular-season win together, leaving it 40 shy of the record of 540 set by McHale, Parish and Larry Bird, per the Spurs' official Twitter account.
While all three players miss more than their fair share of games at this point in their respective careers, the trio still figures to pass McHale, Parish and Bird at some point during the 2015-16 season.
