Jackson Has Fractured Foot, Will Need Surgery

Monday, Jan. 12

Jeff Goodman of ESPN reported what he was hearing on Traevon Jackson's injured foot:

Wisconsin later confirmed the news via a release on the team website:

"

Jackson will undergo surgery on Thursday and his initial rehab process will begin in 2-3 weeks.

"I'm just trying to enjoy the process, learn from this and trust in Christ," Jackson said. "I know my teammates will come together and be stronger because of this. I'm looking forward to coming back mentally stronger than ever and more prepared to win championships and finish off the year and the seniors' careers the right way."

Jackson Injures Ankle vs. Rutgers

Sunday, Jan. 11

Traevon Jackson left Wisconsin's game against Rutgers on Sunday after injuring his foot.

The Badgers announced in the second half that the senior guard wouldn't return:

Raphielle Johnson of NBCSports.com tweeted that Jackson was likely injured when attempting to defend a three-point attempt by Scarlet Knights guard Myles Mack:

Before leaving the game, Jackson had seven points on 3-of-5 shooting. Entering Sunday, he was averaging 9.5 points and 3.1 assists a game.

By itself, an injury to Jackson will be tough on the Badgers but not enough to make them a demonstrably worse basketball team.

However, the timing of the problem couldn't be much worse. Wisconsin revealed before the game that leading scorer and rebounder Frank Kaminsky is still dealing with lingering effects from a concussion.

With Jackson and Kaminsky out, Wisconsin is absent a lot of senior leadership on the floor.
