Scott Boras Expects Wieters to be Ready for Opening Day
Sunday, Dec. 21
The Baltimore Orioles received some excellent news as Matt Wieters' agent, Scott Boras, expects Wieters to be ready to play by Opening Day this season.
Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe tweeted the news:
Wieters played just 26 games last season but was off to a hot start, hitting .308 with five home runs, 18 RBI and 13 runs scored. The three-time All-Star was coming off of a typically productive season in 2013, when he hit just .235 but added 22 home runs, 79 RBI and 59 runs in 148 games.
Wieters will be returning to a loaded squad that managed to reach the postseason despite his injury and the loss of third baseman Manny Machado to a knee injury. The Orioles will certainly be one of the favorites to reach the American League playoffs again this season.
