Brees Ties Peyton Manning's Record with 9th 5-Touchdown Game
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees tied Peyton Manning's all-time record of nine games with five or more touchdown passes in Sunday's 35-32 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, per ESPN Stats & Info.
In a contest that wasn't nearly as close as the final score indicates, Brees had one of the more efficient outings of his career, completing 19 of his 27 pass attempts for 257 yards, with the five touchdowns and no interceptions.
His 140.0 passer rating represented his highest mark of the season, though he's done better on 15 separate occasions throughout his 14-year career, including seven times in a five-touchdown outing, per Pro-Football-Reference.com's play index.

Brees' big day was supplemented by a strong showing from Saints running back Mark Ingram, who managed 122 yards on 23 carries.
The last of Brees' five touchdowns essentially sealed the game, as his three-yard scoring pass to wide receiver Marques Colston gave the Saints a 35-16 lead with just 10 minutes, 25 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Steelers would later piece together touchdown drives of 95 and 98 yards but only after the outcome was determined. The second drive ended with a three-yard scoring pass to wide receiver Antonio Brown as time expired on the contest.
As for Brees, his shared possession of the record may not last long, given that Manning has three games with five or more touchdown passes since the beginning of last season.
While the 35-year-old Brees has a significant advantage in terms of age, the 38-year-old Manning looks as good as ever in his 17th NFL season.
