Adam Vinatieri Passes Matt Stover for 5th on All-Time Field Goals List
Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri converted all three of his field-goal attempts in Sunday's 23-3 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars to move past Matt Stover for sole possession of fifth place on the all-time field goals made list, per Pro-Football-Reference.com.
Vinatieri entered the game with 470 career field goals, sitting just one behind Stover's 471 for a spot in the top five.
The 41-year-old tied Stover with a 46-yard field goal in the opening quarter and then hit No. 472 shortly before halftime from just 20 yards out.

Vinatieri would later add a 32-yarder in the fourth quarter, marking his 31st consecutive successful field-goal attempt, with the streak dating back to Week 16 of last season.
According to Mike Chappell of RTV6 Indianapolis, the ongoing streak is the longest of Vinatieri's storied career, which is most notable for a pair of Super Bowl-winning field goals during his 10-year tenure (1996 to 2005) with the New England Patriots.
Though largely known for those two clutch kicks and his performance in the infamous "Tuck Rule Game," Vinatieri has been nearly as impressive from a statistical standpoint, with his field-goal conversion rate of 83.72 percent good for 13th in NFL history.
Of course, the list is dominated by younger place-kickers, as accuracy around the league has greatly increased over the years.
Among players who debuted before 2000, Vinatieri ranks third in conversion percentage, trailing only Mike Vanderjagt (86.47) and Phil Dawson (84.40), neither of whom can match the sum of Vinatieri's resume.
While he hasn't yet shown any signs of slowing down, Vinatieri should eventually earn a place in Canton alongside Jan Stenerud, who is currently the only player in the Pro Football Hall of Fame to exclusively work as a place-kicker.
