Demaryius Thomas 5th Ever with 7 Straight 100-Yard Receiving Games

Bleacher Report MilestonesNov 17, 2014

With seven receptions for 103 yards in Sunday's 22-7 loss to the St. Louis Rams, Demaryius Thomas of the Denver Broncos became just the fifth player ever to record 100 or more receiving yards in seven consecutive games, per Pro-Football-Reference.com's play index.

Thomas barely reached the century mark in Denver's surprising loss, picking up 14 yards on a short pass over the middle on a 3rd-and-15 with three minutes, 10 seconds remaining.

His final catch of the day was followed by a game-sealing incompletion on 4th-and-1, with Peyton Manning's pass to a wide-open Thomas getting batted down by Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree.

The 26-year-old wideout finished Sunday as the NFL's leading receiver, with 1,105 yards through 10 games. His 72 receptions rank second to the 79 of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, who will likely pass Thomas for the yardage lead Monday night against the Tennessee Titans.

When the Broncos face the No. 2-ranked Miami Dolphins pass defense in Week 12, Thomas should have a chance to get the lead back, as Brown's Steelers will finally have a bye.

Thomas will also have the opportunity to join Calvin Johnson, who in 2012 became the first and only player to ever record eight consecutive 100-yard receiving games.

The other three streaks of seven games were compiled by Michael Irvin (1995), Bill Groman (1961) and Charley Hennigan (1961), the last two of whom had overlapping streaks for the Houston Oilers in the pre-merger AFL.
