Lowry Returns vs. Hornets

Friday, March 6

The Raptors media relations team reported Lowry will start Friday night.

Mike Ganter of the Toronto Sun had Lowry's thoughts on returning to the floor:

"

Lowry confirmed at shoot around Friday morning that his break is over and he’ll be back in uniform to take on the Charlotte Hornets after sitting out losses to New York and Cleveland which bookended a win over Philadelphia.

“I feel fine,” Lowry said. “I’m going to play tonight. I ain’t trying to sneak up on anyone. I’m ready to go.”

The break was described as necessary both physically and mentally, but for Lowry the mental break was the bigger of the two.

“I think the mental part was more honestly,” Lowry said. “The break from the interviews, the media, the appearances and commercials you have to do. I think the mental part was more after all-star break.”

Lowry Dealing With Multiple Injuries, Speaks on Status

Tuesday, March 3

Lowry continues to recover as he deals with multiple injuries from the wear and tear of the season.

He sat out of Toronto's game Saturday against the New York Knicks, as he is dealing with calf, hamstring and finger injuries, via Mike Mazzeo of ESPNNewYork.com.

The star point guard spoke Monday, saying he would miss the game against Philadelphia, via Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun:

The Raptors media relations account later confirmed he would be out, and Wolstat provided additional details on his status:

In a modern NBA littered with elite talent at Lowry's position, he is a bit easier to overlook. However, Lowry is a skilled scorer, a capable distributor and an exceptional perimeter defender that Toronto will miss for the time being.

Toronto's high-octane offense shouldn't decline too much, though, because backup point guard Greivis Vasquez is capable of scoring in bunches and can create opportunities for others. Terrence Ross and DeMar DeRozan still offer Toronto great athleticism and versatility on the perimeter as well.
