Devon Still's Daughter Will Watch Her Dad Play in Person for the 1st Time on TNF

Kyle NewportNov 4, 2014

Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Devon Still will have a bit of extra motivation to play as hard as he can against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. For the first time ever, his four-year-old daughter, Leah, will be watching him play in person.

Update from Thursday, Nov. 6

On Wednesday, Leah let her dad know that she was on her way to Cincinnati:

Devon made sure he was there to greet his daughter at the airport:

Leah sounds ready to cheer Devon on at the stadium, as she gave her dad a "Who Dey!"

On Thursday night, Leah will be seeing her dad play football in person for the first time ever. As a pregame warm-up, the two were able to enjoy a spot of tea together:

The Ben-Gals made sure Leah could be an actual cheerleader at the game.

Leah's story has captivated the NFL since it became public earlier this year that she is battling pediatric cancer. Teams have shown their support throughout the process, doing everything from organizing an in-game tribute to sending care packages.

Now, Leah will be at Paul Brown Stadium for Thursday Night Football to see her dad play in person for the first time, as The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr. noted:

Doctors have allowed Leah to travel from Philadelphia to Cincinnati to make this special night happen.

The Bengals will also be presenting a check—the proceeds from the sales of Still jerseys—to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center during the game.

Still is doing his best to stay focused on his opponent in this AFC North showdown between Cincinnati (5-2-1) and Cleveland (5-3), but he has admitted that his daughter will be on his mind.

Still talked about having his daughter at the game, per Kevin Goheen of Fox Sports Ohio:

"

It's going to be added motivation just knowing my daughter is watching me. I want her to be able to hear how the crowd cheers that loud whenever I make a tackle, so I'm going to go out there and do whatever I can to put a smile on her face. I'm trying not to think about it right now. I'm trying to think of the Browns. Like I said, it's a fast week and I don't want to get caught up in too much emotion with my daughter. ...

It will probably be the most special game I'm ever going to play because I know my daughter is going to be here to watch me play. All the money that's been raised for the cancer research is because of her strength and because she's fighting this disease. So it's definitely going to be an emotional game for me.

"

NFL players don't need extra motivation to go out on the field and make plays, but there is no doubt that Still is going to be hyped up Thursday night.
