Dallas Cowboys' DeMarco Murray on Pace for 2,586 Scrimmage Yards
Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray had another big game in Monday's 20-17 overtime loss to the Washington Redskins, piling up 141 rushing yards on 19 carries, with another 81 yards on four receptions.
Murray's 1,293 scrimmage yards are the fifth-most any player has ever produced through his team's first eight games of a season and the most any player has compiled since Priest Holmes had 1,297 for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2002, per Elias Sports Bureau, via ESPN Stats & Info.
At his current pace for 2,586 scrimmage yards, Murray would blow by the record of 2,509 set by Chris Johnson for the Tennessee Titans in 2009.

The Cowboys running back is also on pace for 412 carries, which would leave him second on the single-season list, just four shy of the record-setting 416 compiled by Larry Johnson for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2006.
Most prestigious of all, Murray is on pace for 2,108 rushing yards, which would best the all-time record of 2,105 set by Eric Dickerson for the Los Angeles Rams in 1984.
Murray has done all this by being remarkably consistent from week to week, with at least 100 rushing yards in each of the Cowboys' first eight games. Previously, no player had ever started a season with more than six consecutive 100-yard rushing games, a feat accomplished by Jim Brown for the Cleveland Browns all the way back in 1958.
Per Pro-Football-Reference.com's play index, Murray has one of just 10 100-yard rushing streaks of eight games or longer, though he's still six games shy of the record-setting 14-game streak pieced together by Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders in 1997.
