Texans' Andre Johnson Reaches 13,000 Career Receiving Yards

Bleacher Report MilestonesOct 10, 2014

Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson reached 13,000 career receiving yards in Thursday's 33-28 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, hitting the milestone with a nine-yard catch in the second quarter, per the Texans' official website.

Just the 15th player and 14th wide receiver to join the 13K club, Johnson finished his night with seven catches for 99 yards and a touchdown, but he also lost a crucial fumble late in the fourth quarter.

His fantastic four-yard touchdown snag in the second quarter sparked an impressive near-comeback, after the Colts outscored the Texans 24-0 in the game's first 15 minutes. Johnson's subsequent catch, which came on the second play of the next drive, put him over the 13,000-yard mark for his career.

The Texans eventually clawed the deficit down to 33-28, only to see their final two drives end on fumbles by Johnson and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The lost fumble, while Johnson's second of the season, was also his second over the last six years. Prior to coughing the ball up in a Week 4 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the most accomplished player in Texans history hadn't lost a fumble since Week 5 of the 2008 season.

Johnson has been as consistent as they come, recording a reception in each of his last 124 games, marking the NFL's third-longest active streak, per Pro-Football-Reference.com's play index.

Coincidentally, the second-longest active streak of 125 games belongs to Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne, who crossed paths with Johnson at the University of Miami and caught four balls for 35 yards in Thursday's game.

Wayne's senior season coincided with Johnson's freshman year in 2000, with that same Hurricanes team boasting future NFL stars Ed Reed, Clinton Portis, Santana Moss and Jeremy Shockey, not to mention a defensive backs coach named Chuck Pagano who currently serves as the Colts head coach.
