Mike Chappell of RTV6 then reported that Rogers was no longer a Colt:
Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports weighed in on the situation:
Rogers, a second-year pro, appeared to be on a straighter path before this lapse in judgment that cost him his job.
Colts head coach Chuck Pagano commented on Rogers' release, via Arnolt.
“It’s a pretty easy place to thrive and to grow… If you can’t make it here, it’s gonna be tough to make it anywhere,” Pagano said.
A touted talent at the University of Tennessee, Rogers was teammates with current NFL wideouts Cordarrelle Patterson and Justin Hunter. However, the Volunteers suspended Rogers indefinitely due to multiple failed drug tests.
That led to Rogers transferring to Tennessee Tech before embarking on his quest for the NFL. Rogers went undrafted in 2013, yet was able to eventually catch on with the Colts following his release from the Buffalo Bills.
After hauling in 14 receptions for 192 yards and two touchdowns in five games as a rookie, Rogers didn't play for Indianapolis in 2014. The offseason additions of Hakeem Nicks and third-round draft pick Donte Moncrief, combined with the return of Reggie Wayne from injury, knocked Rogers down the depth chart.

Rogers drew the ire of Pagano when he punted the ball in celebration of a touchdown during the preseason finale.
"It's unacceptable," said Pagano, via ESPN.com's Mike Wells. "It does not represent anything we're about. I apologize to our fans."
The Colts' offense has been clicking amid two straight victories. Star quarterback Andrew Luck has fared just fine with the receiving targets at his disposal, throwing eight touchdown passes in the past two games.
Between the unfortunate preseason episode, a history of off-field issues and Sunday's arrest, Indianapolis evidently felt Rogers needed to go.
