Betting Advice
The first game that jumps off the page is clearly the San Diego Chargers against the Jacksonville Jaguars. A 13.5-point spread might seem ridiculous, but recent history tells us it's a fitting call for the teams.
First off, the Jaguars have been routed in every game this season by an average of 25 points. That includes a recent curb-stomping at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts by a final score of 44-17, a 27-point loss.
RJ Bell of Pregame.com points out how the two teams have performed against the spread recently:
As for the Chargers, well, they've been the anti-Jaguars as of late. San Diego took down the Seattle Seahawks at home before traveling to take on the Buffalo Bills and hand them their first loss by double digits.
Philip Rivers has always led an erratic offense, as evidenced by the season-opening loss against the Arizona Cardinals. But with the weapons San Diego has in Rivers, Keenan Allen and Antonio Gates, this will be a blowout win for the Chargers at home.
Outside of the Chargers and Jaguars, the team that dominated Jacksonville in Week 3 is set for another decisive victory. When the Tennessee Titans travel to Indianapolis, the Colts should be set up for a second-straight division win.
Before the two teams take the field, here's a look at the recent results between the two in Lucas Oil Stadium:
| 2013 | Colts, 22-14 |
| 2012 | Colts, 27-23 |
| 2011 | Colts, 27-13 |
| 2010 | Colts, 23-20 |
| 2009 | Colts, 27-17 |
| 2008 | Colts, 23-0 |
Sure, the Colts are currently 1-2 and looked wildly inconsistent in Weeks 1 and 2, but they aren't playing the same caliber of opponent. Tennessee doesn't have nearly the same offensive playmakers as Indy, and it will show on Sunday.
Norman Chad of ESPN passed along his take on the line, which has been lowered since the tweet:
Another line that can be exploited is the New York Jets somehow having an even spread against the Detroit Lions at home. Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate against that secondary? Sure, that sounds like a close game.
The choices may be limited, but there is still plenty of fun to be had with this week's crop. With all three of the aforementioned teams hitting their stride recently, placing a bet on any should easily pay off.
