The Seattle Seahawks confirmed that Marshawn Lynch is active for Sunday's meeting with the New York Giants:
Thursday, Nov. 6
The Seahawks Twitter account broke the news that he missed practice for the second straight day:
Mike Wilkening of Pro Football Talk added: "It’s not uncommon to see Lynch on the injury report, as it’s not unusual for him to be held out of the first workout of each week to rest. However, he typically practices fully the next day."
Lynch is a physical, old-school rusher who doesn't mind fighting for the tough yards between the tackles. It's been his style since he broke into the league in 2007 out of Cal. It's also an approach that leads to several minor injury issues throughout a season.
Earlier in the campaign, he dealt with a back injury. While it didn't force him to miss any games, Curtis Crabtree of Pro Football Talk passed along comments from Seattle head coach Pete Carroll about the ailment being a lingering issue.
"It's an ongoing issue for him for years," Carroll said. "It's something we're always monitoring."

Of course, the most important thing is having him on the field for game day. If that means giving him an extra practice day or two to rest a minor injury, it's a trade-off worth making. The result has been only one missed game over the last four-plus seasons.
Now the question is whether the latest injury concern will fall into the same category. More should be known about the severity of the ailment after further evaluation.

If he does end up missing some time, the rushing attack would fall into the hands of Robert Turbin and Christine Michael. Unlike Lynch, who's a three-down back when healthy, the two backups would likely form more of a committee to handle the various roles.
Turbin has been the chief backup for the past few seasons and would likely be designated as the starter. Michael has shown some upside but hasn't gotten much playing time, sitting third on the depth chart with a workhorse like Lynch at the top. This could be his chance to shine.
That's even more important following a report from Chris Mortensen of ESPN stating Lynch isn't expected back with the team for 2015. It would suggest a revamping of the backfield could be on the horizon. The backups could now get a chance to prove their value.
A more defined outlook on the situation will be available once the Seahawks update Lynch's status.
