2014 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Advice: Week 2

Ryan LesterSep 8, 2014

There were some unusual heroes this week. There always are. Let’s take a look at them and see if they are worthy of your fantasy rosters.

Jake Locker, QB, Tennessee Titans

Locker threw for 266 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He added 14 rushing yards. Locker will face the Dallas Cowboys next week, which makes him a solid option.

Ruling:  Get ‘em.

Justin Forsett, RB, Baltimore Ravens

Forsett ran for 70 yards on 11 carries as he took advantage of a Bernard Pierce fumble. Forsett added 14 receiving yards. In the wake of Ray Rice's release, Forsett should be added.

Ruling:  Get 'em.

Shonn Greene, RB, Tennessee Titans

Greene is not ready to give up the starting job just yet. He ran for 71 yards on 15 carries. As long as he is the starting running back, he should be on fantasy football rosters.  My recommendation is for smaller leagues because he’s likely owned in 12-team leagues.

Ruling:  Get ‘em.

Terrance West, RB, Cleveland Browns

West ran 16 times for 100 yards as Ben Tate injured his knee. Isaiah Crowell also ran for 32 yards and two touchdowns. I expect West to be the better option should Tate miss time, but Crowell could get the goal line work.

Ruling:  Get ‘em.

Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Carolina Panthers

Benjamin caught six of eight targets for 92 yards and a touchdown with Derek Anderson at quarterback. Benjamin should be a solid option for Cam Newton and fantasy owners alike.

Ruling:  Get ‘em.

Devin Hester, WR, Atlanta Falcons

Hester caught five of six targets for 99 yards. He has never been a fantasy factor, and I do not expect that to change at this stage of his career.

Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.

Allen Hurns, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars

Hurns exploded on the scene with four catches on nine targets for 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns. It is hard not to grab a guy after a performance like that, but be cautious to not drop a player with more long-term potential.

Ruling:  Get ‘em.

Greg Jennings, WR, Minnesota Vikings

Jennings caught six of seven targets for 58 yards and a touchdown. He is a favorite of Matt Cassel and should be on your fantasy radar.

Ruling:  Get ‘em.

Niles Paul, TE, Washington Redskins

Paul caught all four of his targets for 86 yards after Jordan Reed hurt his hamstring. The tight end position is deep, so there are likely better options available.

Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.
