What To Do with All of These Picks?
Guess what?
I have been saying it for the last six weeks, and it is going to happen.
The Timberwolves are going to get that No. 2 pick. They currently have the fifth, sixth, 18th, and 28th pick in the first round, not to mention two second round picks.
Memphis wants to trade that second pick.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are trying to trade a combination of the fifth or sixth pick with the 28th or 18th pick. Getting the second pick in the draft allows the Wolves to draft Thabeet or Rubio.
Thabeet is a little unlikely right now.
Due to a loss of guards and a revamp of forwards and one center, the Wolves will definitely pursue Rubio. It makes no sense to have four forwards and two centers, that being the case if they draft Thabeet.
Etan Thomas is injury prone, but, if he's on the Wolves, he won't see much playing time anyway and will be a role player. Most likely, Songaila will also be a role player. Pecherov is going to play for the Wolves and probably will start.
He has a lot of work to do this summer.
In total, the Wolves have the fifth, sixth, 18th, and 28th in the first round, which means they have the most firepower. The Wolves are going to package up one of the top 10 picks and the 18th or 28th pick, to get the second pick.
So, they would have the second pick, the sixth pick, the 28th pick most likely, and two second round picks.
This gives the Wolves the opportunity to draft a possible future franchise player and also add some depth with the other picks.
So many picks and only two more days away.
Rubio better be buying a house in Wolves land.
