Day 2 Outlook

By far the biggest storyline of the 2014 tournament is the potential showdown between No. 1 seeds UConn and Notre Dame, two familiar foes who have faced each other 12 times in the past three seasons.
Coincidentally enough, the bracket shook out in such a way that the two can meet in the title game.
Geno Auriemma's Huskies start their journey on Sunday, with Notre Dame having already won its contest against Robert Morris the day prior.
Auriemma's team has perfected the tournament, as referenced by the fact the team has lost before the regional final just twice since 1995. He explained the approach that has carried the team this far—which he'll obviously use going into Sunday's contest with Prairie View A&M—as simply seizing the moment, according to ESPN's Mechelle Voepel:
"It is getting harder, as the years go on, because people are in an incredible hurry to get to the next thing. And whatever happens next is way better than what just happened. It's crazy, right? So we do spend a lot of time talking about being in the moment and about how today, this game, is the most important game for us.
"
No. 1 South Carolina will also be in action against CSU Northridge, and the seed marks the first time in Gamecocks history the women's team has placed at the top. Coach Dawn Staley says it is the monumental moment for a school looking to take the next step, as captured by Voepel:
"What we're trying to do here at South Carolina -- which is win national championships -- I think it does start with getting No. 1 seeds. Putting yourself in the same breath as the Notre Dames, UConns, Tennessees. I think it's a breath of fresh air to have someone new. Our kids are going to be tremendously excited to play in the NCAA tournament and be a No. 1 seed. I think sometimes in that position, you play not to lose. We'll talk a lot about playing to win.
"
Other dangerous teams have lesser seeds. Watch out for No. 7 LSU, which lost six in a row to close the season and made it one game into the SEC tournament but gets to play its first two games in a home environment. First up is a date with No. 10 Georgia Tech in what is sure to be a close affair.
Of course, watch out for No. 3 Louisville, which was strangely dropped out of the running for a top seed. The Cardinals will look to take their aggression out on No. 14 Idaho, but the potential for a letdown is always present.
