NCAA Tournament Schedule 2014: Updated Bracket and TV Info for March Madness
The second round of the 2014 NCAA men’s basketball tournament is one of the most exciting portions of any postseason in sports, and the madness of March has resulted in fans desperate to watch all of the action.
With top contenders on upset alert and Cinderella teams looking to cement their spot in history, this year’s tourney has the potential to go down as one of the most memorable due to the high levels of talent throughout the bracket.

Friday’s Best Game: No. 3 Duke vs. No. 14 Mercer
While the No. 3 seed Duke Blue Devils (26-8, 13-5 ACC) will be the favorite in the second-round matchup with the No. 14 seeded Mercer Bears (26-8, 14-4 A-Sun), this will be the first game on Friday and should set the pace for what follows.
Mercer has a legitimate shot to beat Duke and stun the NCAA tournament.
Not only did the Bears win the Atlantic Sun Conference over last year’s tournament Cinderella Florida Gulf Coast, but the team also managed to play well down the stretch, losing just twice since Feb. 7. On the other hand, Duke lost to Virginia in the ACC finals and didn’t look strong at the close of the season.
There are several games that gave experts trouble in the second round, but Seth Davis of CBS Sports had one of his biggest struggles in this matchup:
Mercer’s biggest advantage is in the offensive zone. The team is averaging more points (79.3), assists (16.4) and rebounds (38) than the Blue Devils, but the biggest difference is the shooting efficiency of the Bears, averaging a .475 field-goal percentage.
As long as Mercer uses defensive pressure to force Duke into taking bad shots and turning the ball over, while still attacking the glass with tenacity, the Bears will knock off the Blue Devils and continue their dream run.
