Oregon Will Be Tough to Beat
Altman's club opened the season with an impressive 82-75 win over the Georgetown Hoyas at Camp Humphreys, a U.S. Army base south of Seoul, Korea in the Armed Forces Classic.
Since then, the Ducks have rolled through three opponents to remain unblemished.
Six players are averaging double figures, but junior Joseph Young and senior Mike Moser are the biggest standouts. Young is lighting up the scoreboard on a regular basis. He's averaging 23 points per game and making 40 percent of his threes.
Moser, a transfer from UNLV, is scoring 15.5 points and grabbing 7.3 rebounds per game.
With such capable upperclassmen leadership, Oregon will be a tough out for any opponent in the country.
Pacific Has the Best Chance to Upset Ducks
Led by Sama Taku and Tony Gill, the Tigers are also a perfect 4-0 this season.
Pacific will have its shot at the tournament hosts on Nov. 29. Taku and Gill are averaging a combined 30.6 points per game, and both seniors are shooting above 40 percent from three-point range.
It will take a big effort from the Tigers' duo to seriously challenge Oregon, but if any team in this field has a chance to upset the host team, it's Pacific.
Big-Time Star to Watch: Troy Huff, North Dakota
North Dakota's superstar guard looks to have a solid future on the next level. The athletic 6'5" senior guard has been scoring points in bunches this season. He's averaging 29 points per game, and that includes a 37-point performance on the road against the defensive-minded No. 10-ranked Wisconsin Badgers.
Huff is also grabbing eight rebounds per game and making 50 percent of his three-point attempts. NBADraft.net doesn't have Huff listed as one of its top prospects yet, but that is sure to change in the next few weeks. The kid can really play.
