The Teams to Watch
Syracuse Orange
Jim Boeheim's club has the most talent of any team in the field. Led by guard C.J. Fair and Jerami Grant, the No. 9-ranked Orange are off to a 2-0 start. Fair is leading the team in scoring with 22.5 points per game. Grant isn't far behind. The sophomore had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in his lone game.
This inside-outside combination helps to make the Orange the favorites in the field.
Baylor Bears
Baylor was an underachieving team last season, but they hope to make strides this year. Sophomore Isaiah Austin is perhaps the most intriguing prospect in the nation. He's an athletic 7'1" three-point shooter, but he's extremely thin at a listed 225 pounds.
He's gotten off to a slow start, averaging just 9.5 points through two games.
Despite Austin's mediocre play early on, senior sharpshooter Brady Heslip is leading the way for the 23rd-ranked Bears. He's scoring 15 points per game and knocking down an insane 56 percent of his three-point attempts. Baylor is 2-0 and could be an interesting team in Maui.
Top Pro Prospect
Jerami Grant
The 6'8" 210-pound forward is ranked 21st by NBADraft.net. He has a 7'2" wingspan and as you can see from his rebounding numbers, Grant plays bigger than his height would suggest. In addition to his 16 points and 10 rebounds against Fordham, Grant has also wreaked havoc in the passing lanes.
He picked up three steals in a complete performance. Look for him to add to his early-season hoopla as scouts look on in Maui.
