Eagles vs. Packers: Biggest Takeaways from Philly's Big Win

Tyler BrookeJun 6, 2018

The Philadelphia Eagles were able to take down the Green Bay Packers 27-13 on Sunday, revealing a few things about both teams in the process.

Quarterback Seneca Wallace started the game for the Packers but quickly left with a groin injury.  The official Twitter account for the Packers confirmed the injury, and he did not return as Scott Tolzien replaced him.

While it wasn't the prettiest game, we did learn some things from Eagles win over Green Bay, so let's take a look at the biggest takeaways from this Week 10 matchup.

Riley Cooper and Nick Foles Have a Real Connection

When talking about quarterbacks and wide receivers struggling to connect, people will tend to say that they're "not on the same page" or something like that.

With Riley Cooper and Nick Foles, it's safe to say that they're on the same page.

Foles found Cooper just three times, but the passer-receiver combination made the most of it. Foles' new favorite wide receiver went for 102 yards and two scores, averaging 34 yards per catch.  Those two touchdowns helped the Eagles keep the Packers' numerous comeback attempts at bay.

In the three games where the two have started and played the whole way through, Foles and Cooper have connected 12 times for 361 yards and six touchdowns.  Those three games were against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Oakland Raiders and in Week 10 against the Packers.

The Eagles needed another weapon besides DeSean Jackson in the passing game, and Foles has certainly found one in Cooper.

Scott Tolzien Is Green Bay's Best Option at QB

With Aaron Rodgers out for the next few games, the Packers need an answer at quarterback, and they might have found their best option on Sunday in Tolzien.

Although Tolzien did throw two critical interceptions, he also completed 61.5 percent of his passes for 280 yards and one touchdown.  He made some great throws, and for an undrafted free agent who was on the practice squad less than a week ago, he was impressive at times.

It appears that the coaching staff has more faith in Tolzien now.  According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Tolzien will start next week against the New York Giants.

With a full week of practice with the first team, Tolzien has an opportunity to get on the same page with the receivers and get more comfortable in the offense.  He's not going to be Rodgers, but he has given Packer fans hope that their team can survive until Rodgers returns.

Nick Foles Will Be the Starting QB for Philadelphia Moving Forward

Michael Vick has almost no chance to be the starting quarterback after yet another great performance from Foles.

The second-year quarterback out of Arizona completed two-thirds of his passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday, giving him an impressive 149.3 passer rating.  He has now thrown for 16 touchdowns and zero interceptions this season, making him one of the most effective quarterbacks in the NFL this season.

When Foles has started and played the entire game, the Eagles are 4-0.  After throwing seven touchdowns against the Raiders, Foles did something else than Manning has done this season, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

There's no denying that Foles is the go-to guy now.  He seems to be the ideal fit for Chip Kelly's offense, and he could lead this team to a NFC East title if he builds upon this hot start.
