NFL TV Schedule Week 2: Complete Viewing Guide for Second Weekend of Action

Mike HoagJun 8, 2018

If you thought last week was exciting, the NFL has something special lined up in its slate of Week 2 action. And the best part is, the best games are coming to you live on national cable television.

This week, we’re privy to the third ever showdown between the Manning brothers. Lest we forget, both are hot off of 400-plus-yard performances. Peyton Manning matched an NFL record by throwing seven touchdowns against the Baltimore Ravens last week. Does he have an encore in store for his brother on Sunday afternoon?

In the prime-time games, we’ll see two divisional rivalries from the two toughest, hard-nosed divisions in the game. The AFC North duel between the resurgent Cincinnati Bengals and reeling Pittsburgh Steelers is sure to be a telling sign of what’s to come in that division.

Then there’s the ever-anticipated NFC West rematch between Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson. The two dynamic quarterbacks met just once in 2012, with Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks running up the score at CenturyLink Field.

Here’s a look at where and when you can catch these great matchups as well as every other game on the docket in Week 2.

Denver Broncos at New York Giants

Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, N.J.

When: Sunday, Sept. 15, at 4:25 p.m. ET

Watch: CBS

If you’re looking for the potential game of the week, the Giants and Broncos might challenge for it after they’re done in East Rutherford, N.J. We’ve warned you, so you have very few excuses to miss out.

Peyton Manning currently has the head-to-head advantage in the Manning Bowl, but Eli has the clout of two Super Bowl championships. While it’s hard to argue Eli is a better quarterback because of that, he has played magnificently while under the most pressure.

The visiting Broncs are riding high after annihilating the defending Super Bowl champs in Week 1. New York can’t boast a season-opening win after giving up six turnovers to the Dallas Cowboys in their opener.

Guess who’s going to determine the outcome of this one? One of the Manning brothers, I’d assume. That’s how close this one could end up being considering the amount of weapons each has at his disposal.

Sunday Night Football: San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks

Where: CenturyLink Field, Seattle, Wash.

When: Sunday, Sept. 15, at 8:30 p.m. ET

Watch: NBC

One of the best emerging rivalries in the NFL is centered around two of the top teams in the league. The NFC West Division rivals Seattle and San Francisco have built fortresses around their former college head coaches en route to becoming two of the most dominant units on that side of the ball.

What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? The results are bound to differ, and that’s what we saw from these two excellent teams in 2012. While the Niners got the better of the ‘Hawks in a grinder at Candlestick Park, the Seahawks romped to a 42-13 blowout win over them at CenturyLink Field in Week 16.

Seattle’s raucous crowd helped keep young quarterback Colin Kaepernick and company in check. Although the hosts didn’t massively out-gain the Niners, they did everything right in all aspects of the game to earn a lopsided victory.

We should feel lucky to get to see this matchup two times this year as each battle is sure to have not only a playoff-like atmosphere but also playoff implications.

Monday Night Football: Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals

Where: Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati, Ohio

When: Monday, Sept. 16. at 8:40 p.m. ET

Watch: ESPN

Another divisional-rivalry game highlights the final prime-time matchup of Week 2. While the Seahawks and 49ers are perceived to be on nearly equal playing fields, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals appear to be teams on opposite trajectories.

The AFC North has belonged to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens for over a decade. They have laid their claim and defended it, winning the division in 10 of the past 12 years—Pittsburgh taking it in six seasons, although the last time was in 2010.

This year, the Cincinnati Bengals were widely believed to be poised to take back the division. Those expectations have placed a lot of pressure on quarterback Andy Dalton to take a leap, like Joe Flacco last year, and lead his team to the next level.

A loss to a reeling Steelers team at Paul Brown Stadium would effectively crush those expectations and perhaps the spirit of the team early on.
