Manchester United Transfer News: Red Devils Smart to Pursue Saphir Taider
Bologna midfielder Saphir Taider may soon be on his way to Old Trafford.
Manchester United is currently pursuing the 21-year-old, according to Taiderโs agent, George Atangana, who recently spoke to the Corriere di Bologna, per the official website for the Red Devils.
Hereโs what the up-and-coming starโs agent had to say about the midfielderโs current situation:
"Iโve not heard from Inter. I have been in touch with other clubs, like Manchester United, though. I told them to directly contact Bologna. If Bologna value him at โฌ18 million, then how is it possible that they are paying him as if he is worth nothing?
He deserves more money and I wouldn't be doing my job correctly if I didn't ask Bologna to improve his agreement. If a club like Manchester United is interested in one of your players then you have to give him what he deserves if you want him to stay. Right now, Saphir is not happy.
"
Thereโs no question that Manchester United manager David Moyes has the financial means to acquire a player like Taider. Heโs been unsuccessful in landing Cesc Fabregas this summer, and will make one final offer for the star, per The Mirror. He also missed out on Thiago Alcantara as well.
If Moyes fails to land Fabregas with his final bidโand it seems likely Barcelona will reject itโhe will need to act quickly. He needs to address the current weaknesses at the club. If he doesn't, the Red Devils may struggle to repeat as champions of the Premier League.
While Taider might not be the best midfielder in the world, heโs still very young and has a lot of potential. He scored three goals and had a pair of assists in 32 matches in Serie A this past year. Heโs bound to improve with additional experience, and Moyes is smart to be keeping an eye on him.
If Moyes does bring Taider to Old Trafford, the youngster could compete for a spot next to Shinji Kagawa and Tom Cleverley. He will also play an important role if the Premier League season begins and Wayne Rooney is no longer with the Red Devils. While Taider is no Rooney, he could help aid the void left by the elite talent.
Taider might cost Moyes a little more than he'd like to spend, but acquiring him would be a risk worth taking. Heโs clearly unhappy at Bolognaโor at least thatโs what his agent is sayingโand could flourish with the defending Premier League champions.
Moyes needs to add someone and Taider wants out of his current club.
Instead of wasting his time making useless offers to Barcelona for Fabregas, Moyes should be negotiating with Bologna to acquire Taider.
