Wimbledon 2013 Women's Semifinal: TV Schedule, Start Time, Live Stream Info

Patrick ClarkeJun 8, 2018

There are only four women still standing in the women's singles draw at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships.

But surprisingly, that list does not include any of the big names like Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova or Victoria Azarenka, who have combined to win the last six Grand Slams dating back to the start of 2012.

Instead, world No. 4 and 2012 Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka Radwanska will lead a handful of pre-tournament dark horses into the ladies' semifinals on Thursday at the All England Club, via BA Tennis World on Twitter:

The Matchups

Agnieszka Radwanska (4) vs. Sabine Lisicki (23)

Former junior rivals Agnieszka Radwanska and Sabine Lisicki will square off in what is expected to be a thrilling semifinal matchup on Thursday. The two women haven't met all that often as pros, with each having beat the other once on the hard court.

They have never met on grass or at a major tournament.

If you're looking to find an edge, Lisicki is probably the slight favorite at this point. The 23-year-old German prefers the grass and has had tremendous success at the All England Club since reaching the quarterfinals for the first time as a teenager in 2009.

While Radwanska was a finalist here a year ago, and has looked solid to this point in 2013, Lisicki should be the slight favorite after knocking out the top overall seed and current world No. 1 in Serena Williams.

Just as it was in her upset win over Williams, Lisicki's powerful serve will be key for her on Thursday. Radwanska is a brilliant mover and is excellent at anticipating her opponent's next move. If Lisicki can find early success on serve, there's no reason to believe her dream run won't continue.

Marion Bartoli (15) vs. Kirsten Flipkens (20)

Before the tournament began two weeks ago, most experts expected Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova to meet in this semifinal matchup in the bottom half of the draw, but oh how things changed in a hurry.

In the wake of Sharapova's second-round upset loss and Azarenka's early withdrawal, both Marion Bartoli and Kirsten Flipkens have emerged as legitimate championship contenders.

But while Bartoli is a former Wimbledon finalist, Flipkens is in uncharted territory, getting set to play in her first ever Wimbledon final. Keep in mind that before this year, the 27-year-old Belgian had never been past the third round at the All England Club.

The experience edge clearly goes to Bartoli, who made deep runs at this event in the past.

Although it's been six years since Bartoli broke through to the final at the All England Club, she is playing dominant tennis coming into this matchup. She's yet to drop a single set through the first five rounds and has found different ways to win, which is always encouraging.

As has been the case through her first five matches, Flipkens' ability to limit her unforced errors will be critical in this semifinal match. If she can force Bartoli to beat her she'll have a shot to pull off another shocker.
