Wimbledon 2013 Results: Breaking Down Day 7's Best Matches
Even though a lot of top seeds have already fallen, Day 7 at Wimbledon managed to provide plenty of excitement.
The entire tournament has been crazy in terms of how each day has been able to outdo the previous one. Whomever lifts the title on both sides of the draw will have definitely earned it, as they will have survived what has been one of the most unpredictable Wimbledons ever.
Here are two of the best results from each draw.
No. 23 Sabine Lisicki upsets No. 1 Serena Williams 6-2, 1-6, 6-4
There wasn't a more shocking result on Monday than when the 23th-seeded Sabine Lisicki knocked off the top-seeded Serena Williams. Given how many top seeds have been upset already, the match shouldn't be considered much of a surprise.
On the other hand, Williams was coming into Wimbledon playing fantastic tennis. She looked great at the French Open, and carried that form over into the All England Club.
Then a funny thing happened when Williams faced off with Lisicki. She looked skittish and unsure of herself.
ESPN's Chris Fowler thinks the third set was the biggest nail in the coffin for Williams
On the other side of the court, Lisicki looked great. She was confident on the court and willing to take risks. Every time you thought she might lose her composure, Lisicki remained poised and focused on the win.
As ESPN Stats and Info pointed out, Wimbledon has been very kind to the 23-year-old.
If Lisicki continues playing this well, she's got a great chance of bringing home the title.
No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska defeats Tsvetana Pironkova 4-6, 6-3, 6-3
One top seed who dodged a bullet in the women's draw was Agnieszka Radwanska. She dropped the first set to Tsvetana Pironkova but responded well and won the match in three sets.
Second serves managed to decide this match. Radwanska was able to win 17 of her 30 points on second-serve points, while Pironkova won just 18 of her 42 chances, according to Matchstat.
Radwanska also only had 11 unforced errors to Pironkova's 27. She managed to play consistent, albeit unspectacular tennis.
ESPNTennis notes Radwanska is the highest seed remaining in the women's draw.
She reached the final at Wimbledon last year, so she's got a great chance of at least getting that far for a second year in a row.
No. 4 David Ferrer defeats Ivan Dodig 6-7, 7-6, 6-1, 6-1
Things didn't look good for David Ferrer when he dropped the first set and went into a tiebreak in the second against Ivan Dodig. Once he got that set victory, it was smooth sailing for Ferrer.
After the second set, you thought that possibly another top seed was going to find himself in a dogfight. Instead, Ferrer ran right through Dodig in the third and fourth sets.
Ferrer won a whopping 69 percent of his second-serve points (29-of-42) and did well on return of serve. Dodig had some chances to get back into the match, but he lost all six of his break-point opportunities.
Ferrer's win sets up what will be a very interesting quarterfinal against Juan Martin del Potro.
No. 7 Tomas Berdych defeats Bernard Tomic 7-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4
Bernard Tomic put up one heck of a fight. In the end, though, it wasn't enough, as No. 7 Tomas Berdych avoided the upset.
Berdych did a great job of coming back after losing the second set, playing strong on serves and not letting Tomic back into the match.
Both players struggled to win any break points. Berdych won only three of his 15 break opportunities. Tomic, on the other hand, lost all but one of his seven chances.
It was down to how well each guy did on serve, Berdych in particular. He won 84 percent of his first-serve points (68 of 81).
It doesn't get any easier for Berdych, as he faces off with top-seeded Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal.
