Andrew Wiggins Reportedly Cancels Home Visits with UNC, Kansas and FSU

Alex KayJun 6, 2018

Superstar prospect Andrew Wiggins has reportedly canceled his home visits with Kansas, North Carolina and Florida State this week, according to CBS Sports’ Jeff Goodman.

Considering the Huntington Prep (W.V.) standout had narrowed his college basketball choices down to those three schools plus Kentucky, it seems the swingman may be close to making his highly anticipated decision.

According to the Herald-Leader (h/t Ben Roberts of UK Recruiting), high school coach Rob Fulford confirmed that Wiggins would not meet with UNC’s Roy Williams, KU’s Bill Self or FSU’s Leonard Hamilton in person, instead opting to speak with them over the phone.

The top prospect has already met with UK coach John Calipari.

Wiggins cited exhaustion due to the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland as the reason why he will not host visits from the other coaches.

He is the only player inside the top 10 of 247Sports' composite rankings yet to commit to a school, but this latest news may signal he’s right on the verge of doing so.

If he elects to eliminate the Jayhawks, Tar Heels and Seminoles from contention—as these canceled visits could indicate—Wiggins would, by default, head to Lexington to play for coach Cal and the Wildcats.

Of course, there are some potential complications with that commitment, as incumbent swingman Alex Poythress returns for his sophomore season and No. 2 recruit Julius Randle will also soak minutes at the 3.

Factor in that James Young, the No. 9 overall prospect, will also head to UK, and there seems to be a logjam of extremely talented players at the 3.

If anyone were able to sort out the mess and potentially find a way for all of these talented recruits to contribute, it would be Coach Cal. The legendary recruiter would be glad to have too much talent be his main concern for the upcoming 2013-14 campaign.

We’ll have to wait for Wiggins’ decision to find out if that will be the case, but all signs point toward the Canadian native becoming the next great blue-chip prospect to play for UK.
