Dallas Cowboys: From America's Team to America's Circus
The Dallas Cowboys are to the NFL what the New York Yankees are to the MLB. They’re both considered ‘America’s team’ in their respective sports.
I’m sorry, but if the Yanks and Cowboys are truly considered America’s teams, quite frankly, the US is really headed towards the shitter.
The current economic crisis is bad enough. There are several similarities between the two teams which hinder their success while continuing to make the transformation from America’s Team to America’s Circus, but ultimately, Jerry Jones and his Cowboys take the cake.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Cowboys and Yankees are more concerned about being flashy than they are about winning. New York just constructed a new stadium estimated at $1.5 billion. The Cowboys finished a new stadium estimated at $1.3 billion, where Romo and crew will be playing their home games starting this season.
It’s no surprise these franchises decided to take sports stadiums to the next level. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Yankees owner George Steinbrenner announced a joint business venture in October 2008, Legends Hospitality Management LLC, which will operate concessions and merchandising sales at the new Cowboys and Yankees stadiums.
Are the old stadiums an explanation for these teams' struggles? Not a snowball’s chance in hell.
Let’s go, Jerry and George, get your priorities straight. The new stadiums are remarkable and all, but constructing a new stadium should be buried on the list of things to do for your franchise.
On the plus side, when you lose; at least it can be in a flashy, state of the art stadium. Christ, these teams are turning the sports world into a fashion/popularity contest.
What happened to winning championships?
In view of the fact that ‘new stadium’ was at the top of the list, I’m assuming ‘championships’ and ‘winning’ are a ways down.
As if this wasn’t enough, Jerry Jones decided to one-up Steinbrenner in turning what was once a respectable franchise to a goddamn circus.
Michael Irvin will be hosting a reality TV show this offseason that picks the final spot in Cowboys training camp. You know it’s got to be a must-see if the producers from “The Biggest Loser” are behind it. Have you completely lost it, Jerry?!
What’s next? Are you going to take a bunch Average Joes’ and let them compete for the head coaching vacancy after Wade gets canned?
Maybe have Maurice Clarett be the host of the show? I’m not ruling it out. I mean, people would watch it, isn’t that what matters?
Jot that idea down and keep it in mind. What’s the real reason you got rid of TO? Was he starting to clean his act up?
Not as big of a clown as he once was? By no means am I implying that TO is not a clown, he is still very much a clown.
Hmm, I wonder what will make the most noise in the news. I know! Let’s acquire all the felons no one else wants! There’s a reason no one wanted ‘Pacman’ Jones, Jerry was just too dumb and ignorant to realize it.
Or maybe he knew exactly what he was doing; he just wanted to be in the spotlight. Any publicity is good publicity, right Jerry?
