New Orleans Saints: With the 14th Overall Pick in the 2009 Draft...
We are less than a month away from the 2009 NFL Draft. I have spent days and days wondering who will the Saints draft when they are on the clock with the 14th overall pick.
I am more excited about draft day than I was about the free agency honestly only because safety Oshiomogho Atogwe was franchised, and then shortly after that, my dream cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha re-signed with the Oakland Raiders to a three-year deal.
Any one of these players would've boosted our secondary.
Though the Saints have made some impressive moves in the free agency, adding new players to every side of the ball I feel we do not have a No. 1 cornerback just yet. We could also use some help at the free-safety position.
Honestly I believe the Saints could focus on either of these position with the 14th pick in the 2009 draft .
Many people want the Saints to go OLB and go after one of USC's great linebackers to help with the run and add some pass rush. I would like to see some more athletic outside linebackers, but after reading a article evaluating the line backing core.
I feel pretty confident in the line backing core we have .
So with the 14th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft I feel the Saints should go after a versatile player named Malcolm Jenkings. The Ohio State cornerback was considered a top 10 pick in the 2009 draft until a poor 4.5 in the 40-yard dash knocked his stock off.
Malcolm Jenkins is 6'0" and 204 pounds and considered the No. 1 shut down corner in this years draft. Many people are saying he should be playing free safety in the NFL due to his slow 40-yard dash, but honestly, does a slow 40-yard dash mean you can't play cornerback?
Malcolm Jenkins is a football player and can cover. I do not believe a players play on the field should be overlooked by a 40 yard dash.
If the Saints do draft Malcolm Jenkins, he could address more than just one position seeing that he can be converted into a free safety. I would feel very comfortable with Malcolm Jenkins being the No. 1 corner for the New Orleans Saints (sure beats Jason David).
Rumors have it that the New Orleans Saints have gone out to dinner with Malcolm Jenkins which is something to consider.
Truth is Malcolm Jenkins is an explosive player who could very well be the best cornerback the Saints have if we draft him. I would like to hear your opinion so please feel free to comment.
