Jay Cutler: Minnesota Vikings Fans New Arch-Nemesis
Trust me, I am just as sick of the Jay Cutler articles as you are. There are hundreds of them on Bleacher Report currently.
On April 2, Jay Cutler was traded to the Chicago Bears for Kyle Orton and a bundle of draft picks.
I was shocked when I heard the news. I had never thought of Chicago as being a legitimate contender to get Cutler.
I received a text message from a buddy of mine saying that Cutler is going to the Bears. Of course I thought it was an April Fool's Day joke, just only a day late.
I then looked at ESPN.com on my phone to see that this nightmare had come true. It was. Cutler was traded to arguably my least favorite team in the league.
It's no surprise that I'm a Vikings fans. I always have been and I always will be. To see Cutler being traded to the Bears really scared me for awhile.
Many of you Chicago fans are exuberant over the fact that your franchise finally has a good quarterback. But you have failed to realize that you quite clearly, lost this trade.
Giving up two first round picks and Kyle Orton for Cutler is a great trade for the Broncos. I didn't even mention the third-rounder that is included as well.
As you may have seen from my profile picture, I, also, am a Denver Broncos fan. I am disappointed to see him go, but I am even more disappointed that I have to watch him play us twice a year.
Jay Cutler has games where he looks like a star, and then games where he looks like a deer in the headlights. Nonetheless, he is a terrific quarterback.
I watched Cutler's press conference and couldn't help but chuckle when he uttered the phrase "I'm fine with the wide receiver situation."
Earl Bennett and Devin Hester as your starting wide receivers!? They are one of the worst starting duos in the entire league.
The only upside is that Bennett and Cutler went to the same college, Vanderbilt. Perhaps they will have some chemistry even in the pros.
Don't think you have won the division with this trade, Bears fans. The Minnesota Vikings are still the favorite to win the NFC North by a long shot. Disagree if you want, but it's the truth.
The Bears won't be able to fix any of their biggest needs in the first round.
They signed offensive tackle, Orlando Pace to a three-year deal, but he is so inconsistent that he won't be a major factor on the Bears line.
Chicago's offense consists of a so-far one-year-wonder at quarterback, a sophomore at running back, and a crappy bunch of reject receivers.
That is very intimidating. So is sarcasm.
My point is that Vikings fans have little reason to worry. Yes, the division is clearly up in the air at this point, but Minnesota is currently the favorite to take the NFC North crown.
Enjoy your time as a Chicago Bear, Cutler. Enjoy seeing Kevin Williams and Jared Allen rushing after you.
You were once my favorite player, Cutler. Now, you are my enemy.
