What about Colt Brennan?

It’s more likely than not that the wrath of Daniel Snyder is going to result in the Washington Redskins signing Jay Cutler by the end of this week. And while there will be plenty of room for debate about the future of the franchise under Jeff George 2.0, but there’s a yet unanswered question about the beloved quarterback whose spot will be taken by Cutler’s arrival.

Colt Brennan.

Where Cutler is loudmouth drunk, Brennan is smooth-operating heartthrob. I know you were thinking Jason Campbell was the man in charge of leading the Redskins' offense, but let’s be real; he was always just a placeholder for Hurricane Colt, waiting to touch down on the hearts of Redskins' faithful.

But seriously, where does this leave the Colt? He’s a guy who, thanks to consistent taunts and putdowns from Chris Cooley and a loyal following in the blogosphere, has become a fan favorite in the D.C. area.

How is he supposed to flourish under the alcohol-drenched swag of Cutler, who can chuck it a country mile and utter a controversial statement before the pass could land?

How are we supposed to blog on Cutler, who is more likely to punch out the Redskins Blogger than to give him great material on the practice field? (Interestingly enough, the Redskins' blogger is deafeningly silent on the issue so far)

Colt Brennan has experience in the system. Colt Brennan has time put in to the local sports community. And Colt Brennan has a massive following in the gay community; a community that is more likely to be the object of homophobic slurs made by Cutler after a night of random bar hopping in Dupont Circle.

D.C. needs Colt Brennan. Jay Cutler, not so much. The charming huge white guy role in the area has been more than filled by Cooley—I don’t even like the Redskins and I know this fact. You want Campbell out? That’s fine. But why go for a Cutler when you’ve got a Colt on deck?
