MLB Power Rankings: Where Does Your Team Stand Entering Free Agency?
As the circus that is the MLB free agent period commences, we will begin to get a better picture of what each team's roster will look like with each passing week.
Since it's impossible to accurately predict where everyone will wind up signing, the power rankings that follow serve as a baseline for where each team stands entering free agency.
That is to say, these rankings reflect where I would place each team if the season started today with their rosters as is.
This will be updated regularly as free-agent signings are made and rosters begin to take shape.

30. Houston Astros
1 of 30Offseason Outlook
Coming off of a 107-loss season, and facing a tough move from the NL Central to the AL West, the road ahead is going to be a bumpy one for the rebuilding Astros.
They likely won't spend much, if at all, in the offseason, though they could look to add a low-cost veteran bat to DH and anchor the lineup as well as a cheap veteran starter. Perhaps a reunion with Roger Clemens is still a possibility?

29. Cleveland Indians
2 of 30Offseason Outlook
The Indians are headed for a period of rebuilding, as a number of players will likely be shopped this offseason and the team will be reshaped under new manager Terry Francona.
That said, the team will likely look to plug some gaps in the rotation and outfield with a veteran option while they wait for some of their lower-level talent to work its way up through the system. Don't expect any huge signings, but they should add a few pieces before the season starts.

28. Minnesota Twins
3 of 30Offseason Outlook
The Twins got a solid performance from their offense this past season, led by free-agent signing Josh Willingham and a resurgent Joe Mauer. However, their starting rotation was second-worst in the AL with a 4.77 ERA.
Look for the team to add an arm or two to a staff that has little to speak of behind 2012 breakout star Scott Diamond. The middle infield is incredibly weak as well, but so is the free-agent market at both positions.

4 of 30Offseason Outlook
As the rebuilding efforts in Chicago continue, Cubs fans can expect another trying season on the North Side in 2013 as the team continues to incorporate their young talent and looks to add organizational pitching depth any way possible.
They will look to add a veteran starter or two to bridge the gap for the next season or two, as the team doesn't have much to rely on behind Matt Garza and Jeff Samardzija in the rotation.

26. Kansas City Royals
5 of 30Offseason Outlook
The Royals young lineup gained another year of experience this past season, and should only get better once Minor League Player of the Year Wil Myers joins them either out of camp or by midseason at the latest.
The pitching staff remains the biggest question, but already looks to be better with a full season of Jake Odorizzi on tap and the recent acquisition of Ervin Santana from the Angels. The team also claimed right-hander Chris Volstad off waivers from the Cubs to provide some rotational depth.

6 of 30Offseason Outlook
As with nearly every team before them in these rankings, the Rockies' biggest offseason need will be addressing their pitching staff.
After posting a miserable 5.22 ERA as a team last season, worst in all of baseball, the team will need to do something to back what was actually one of the National League's best offenses.

7 of 30Offseason Outlook
It's safe to say that the Marlins likely won't be as aggressive as they were last offseason, as their attempt at building a quick winner came up short and they wound up selling at the deadline.
They've already had a busy offseason, bringing in Mike Redmond as the new manager and unloading Heath Bell in a three-team deal that returned A's prospect Yordy Cabrera. Expect them to shop starter Josh Johnson and to perhaps add a few veteran place holders for their upcoming young talent.

9 of 30Offseason Outlook
The Mariners are expected to usher in their impressive trio of starting pitching prospects at one point or another during the 2013 season, as Danny Hultzen, James Paxton and Taijuan Walker will join Felix Hernandez to form a dynamic staff.
While that will provide plenty of reason for excitement, the offense still needs a lot of work if they are to contend in a deep AL West. Outside of Dustin Ackley, Jesus Montero and Kyle Seager, everyone could be upgraded.

10 of 30Offseason Outlook
The Red Sox have a leg up on some of the other teams who struggled in 2012, as they have roughly $80 million in salary opening up this offseason and will have plenty of options as they look to retool the roster.
They have already brought back David Ortiz on a two-year deal, and while they are not expected to get themselves tied up in any big-money, long-term deals any time soon, they are still likely to be active on the free-agent market in filling out their roster.

The Blue Jays entered the 2012 season with high hopes, but injuries hit hard up and down their roster, and in they end they were again on the bottom looking up in the AL East.
The rotation in particular was hit hard, and the team will no doubt look to add some depth this offseason up and down the roster. That said, if everyone can come back healthy and stay that way, they don't have any glaring needs as far as starters are concerned.

After standing pat last offseason (their only signing was Kosuke Fukudome), the White Sox may be more active this time around after a season in which they were expected to rebuild nearly ended in an AL Central title.
They will need to figure out the catcher position, where A.J. Pierzynski is a free agent, as well as third base, where Brent Morel proved to be in over his head last season before being injured. Some starting pitching depth and late-inning bullpen help will likely be on the wish list as well.

Two years running now, the Pirates have had the look of a contender but not been able to finish things out. With a young core, one would expect them to only get better, but that doesn't mean the team won't look to add a player or two to help push them over the hump.
Top prospect Gerrit Cole could get a crack at the rotation this coming season, as could Jeff Locke, but the team will almost certainly look to add a low-cost veteran starter either way. Think Erik Bedard last season.

They staged a furious run at the end of the season to climb back into contention, but in the end came up short. Still, they showed that they're still capable of making some noise when healthy, and with a few offensive upgrades this winter, they could be in position to return to the postseason.

An early offseason trade addressed the Diamondbacks biggest offseason needs, as they acquired reliever Heath Bell and shortstop Cliff Pennington in a three-team deal with the A's and Marlins.
The Diamondbacks could still look to add a veteran starter for depth and a reliever or two, and they could also opt to trade one of their outfielders to open up an everyday job for Adam Eaton, but for the most part expect the Diamondbacks roster to look much like it does now.
