NFL Predictions Week 9: Home Teams That Will Leave Fans Disappointed

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

It will be a football Sunday to forget for the state of Ohio. The state, in the national spotlight for issues of a more political nature, will host two games and the home team (Bengals and Browns) will go down in both of them.

Ohio will not have a monopoly on home losses this week, there will be at least one other squad playing in front of their fans that goes down with them.

Check out three teams headed towards failure and the facts, stats and thoughts that doom them.

Cincinnati Bengals

Week 9 Opponent: Broncos

After a 3-1 start, the Cincinnati Bengals are crumbling. They have lost their last three games, and with losses in that stretch coming to the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns, it's not like the Bengals are being beaten by the cream of the crop.

The Bengals' rush offense has struggled all year. They made up for this with a dynamic passing game early, but that passing game is falling off the map.

In the three-straight losses, the Bengals are averaging just 5.9 per pass attempt, which would tie them for 30th if it was for the season.

Meanwhile, the Broncos are getting better each week, and they looked dominant last week while taking down New Orleans, 34-14.

Peyton Manning is playing out of his mind, and he will be going against a sub-par Bengals' pass defense that is 20th in yards allowed per pass.

The Bengals are going to have a hard time scoring in this one and next to no chance of stopping Manning and the Broncos offense.

Prediction: Broncos 27, Bengals 17

Cleveland Browns

Week 10 Opponent: Ravens

All of a sudden the Browns are no longer terrible. They started off the season at 0-5 and were widely considered the worst NFL team on the planet.

However, they have won two of their last three, and they have allowed just 23 combined points in their last two, but they won't be able to turn that momentum into a win against Baltimore.

The Browns played the Ravens tough in Baltimore in Week 4 with a 23-16 loss, but Joe Flacco's 356 yards proved to be too much.

While Cleveland is playing better now, I fully expect a top-notch effort from the Ravens. Baltimore enters off a bye week, where they had to let an embarrassing 43-13 loss to the Texans simmer.

This is going to be an angry group of Ravens itching to put that loss behind them, and that will make for a long day for the Browns.

Prediction: Ravens 24, Browns 13

Tennessee Titans

Week 10 Opponent: Bears

The Bears' high-scoring pass defense against the incredible weakening arm of Matt Hasselbeck? This could be a long day for the Titans.

I like Hasselbeck. He has done a fine job filling in for the injured Jake Locker by connecting on over 63 percent of his passes and throwing six touchdowns against four interceptions, but the 37-year-old is relying more on savvy than talent at this point.

That just isn't going to cut it against this ball-hawking, athletic defense.

Defensively, the Titans are a mess. They can't stop the run, 28th in the league, or the pass, surprisingly worse, at 29th in the league.

The Bears offense may not need to score for Chicago to come out on top, but it would be hard for them not to against Tennessee.

Prediction: Bears 31, Titans 17
