Mark Sanchez vs Tim Tebow: Where Does QB Rotation Stand After Week 7?

Chris TrapassoOct 21, 2012

Even though the New York Jets lost to the New England Patriots, Mark Sanchez's job is safe.

Yeah, I know—the Patriots secondary isn't great.

But anytime he goes 28-of-41 for 328 yards with a touchdown and a pick, the Jets have to like their chances at victory.

Also, Sanchez made a handful of tremendous throws in crunch time, and really, if it weren't for a number of drops by Jets receivers, the Jets would have a great chance to win.

If Stephen Hill didn't drop a crucial pass that hit him directly in his hands on 3rd-and-4 that would have been a completion inside the Patriots' 15-yard-line—who knows—maybe we're talking about how Sanchez beat Tom Brady in Brady's house, again.

Tim Tebow didn't throw a pass and was held to four rushes on 12 yards.

If there's any time to breathe easy for Sanchez, it's now.

Sure, morale victories don't get you anywhere in the NFL, or any sport for that matter, but Rex Ryan has to be happy with the play of his signal-caller.

Really, can anyone say that Tebow would be the better option?

If Sanchez is protected, he can lead a semi-productive offensive attack.

Yeah, even with the current cast of skill position players around him.

When you think about it, Sanchez's job probably hasn't been more safe than it is right now.
