Real Madrid Bus Receives Ticket Before Manchester City Match (Video)

How's this for parking the bus, Jose?

Before the Champions League drama between Real Madrid and Manchester City unfolded on Tuesday night at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid's team bus experienced a hilariously ironic bit of ignominy in the parking lot.

The team's bus, it seems, drew a parking ticket from one very hardcore traffic cop.

How hardcore? Well, let's just say that Jose Mourinho might have met his match with Skeptical Ticket Lady.

Now for the irony. Mourinho is thought to be the man responsible for introducing the term "parking the bus" into the English lexicon. The term dates to a 2004 match between Mourinho's Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Somewhat surprisingly, Mourinho wasn't referring to his own team.

Here's what Mourinho said, from the BBC Sport report of the match: "As we say in Portugal, [Tottenham] brought the bus and they left the bus in front of the goal."

So it's not "parking the bus," word-for-word, but it's close enough.

It's enough to make any footie fan—even Madridistas—chuckle at Real's parking-related misfortune on Tuesday.

On the other hand, might this now become a good luck charm? Real won the match, after all, even though City took a late lead. The more you watch Cristiano Ronaldo's mind-bending winner, the more you have to think something supernatural was involved.

Or it could just be a coincidence. Either way, with Jose Mourinho, anything is possible. So if we see the Real bus receiving a ticket in Amsterdam next month, we'll know something is up.
