Josh Morgan and 5 NFL Players on the Outs After Week 2
The impact of a signature moment plays a huge role in any game's outcome.
Never will one player or snap of the ball fully determine a final result. However, a penalty like the one flagged on Josh Morgan can be costly.
In addition to penalties, turnovers are an obvious factor and, although it may seem unlikely, missed tackles are demoralizing.
Here, we take a look at Morgan along with others whose Week 2 mistakes have them on the outs.

Josh Morgan: WR, Redskins
1 of 5Down 31-28, the Washington Redskins were driving to get in kicker Billy Cundiff's range for a game-tying field goal against the St. Louis Rams.
Redskins receiver Josh Morgan already had four catches for 43 yards on Sunday and gained seven yards on his final catch.
Unfortunately for Washington, Morgan let his emotions get the best of him and was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after an interaction with Cortland Finnegan. The penalty cost the Redskins 15 yards and Cundiff's ensuing 62-yard field goal fell short.
We've seen this mental game played by Finnegan before, though. Such as this fight with Andre Johnson. This time, Finnegan got the best of his receiving opponent in Morgan and it cost Washington a chance to win.
Peyton Hillis: RB, Chiefs
2 of 5Turnovers happen in football and they are simply part of the game.
Still, fumbling on the 1-yard line should never happen.
Being so close to the end zone means that extra protection should be emphasized. The worst-case scenario is not getting a touchdown and having to settle for three points.
Well, Peyton Hillis failed miserably for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Buffalo Bills. Down 21-0, K.C. was about to punch one in just before halftime and grab some momentum. Scoring here was also imperative, because Buffalo would be receiving the second half kickoff.
Hillis couldn't get inside the end zone and he coughed up the rock in the process. The Chiefs then had to wait until the 6:26 mark in the fourth quarter before they scored a touchdown. By then, however, it was way too late for a comeback.
Ryan Williams: RB, Cardinals
3 of 5Williams' fumble was just like Peyton Hillis', but on a whole other level.
The Arizona Cardinals were leading the New England Patriots, 20-18, with roughly one minute to play.
On the brink of pulling off the biggest upset of Week 2 in this young 2012 season, Cardinals running back Ryan Williams lost the ball on third-and-long. The Patriots recovered at the Arizona 30-yard line and were given awesome field position and the opportunity to win.
Gaining yards here is not the goal. It's simply maintaining possession and punting to change field position. After all, despite leading, the last thing any opponent wants to do is give Tom Brady excellent field position toward the end of the game.
As we learn next, though, nothing is ever guaranteed.
Rob Gronkowski and Stephen Gostkowski: TE and K, Patriots
4 of 5Given the ball in great field position with Tom Brady under center, victory was a foregone conclusion for the New England Patriots, right?
Well, not exactly.
On the second play of the drive, tight end Rob Gronkowski was penalized for holding on Danny Woodhead's touchdown run.
Okay, no big deal. The Pats still had a bit of time remaining.
Then, Gronkowski was called for a false start which bumped New England back five more yards. He cost the Pats 15 yards so fast that Brady had no choice but to spike the ball.
Still, the spot of Stephen Gostkowski's kick was only from 42 yards out and he had connected from three longer distances of 46, 51 and 53 yards earlier in the game (four total). So, despite Gronk's ineptitude this attempt was a lock...not.
Gostkowski drove it left and the Pats got shocked at home by Arizona.
Oakland Raiders Defense
5 of 5If the Oakland Raiders are to get out of their 0-2 start, tackling will be imperative.
And as Reggie Bush put on display, the Raiders really need to work on tackling.
Once getting the handoff, Bush bounced outside and then made four defenders, who don't even get blocked on the play, miss. Sure, it's common for a back to make a couple of unblocked players miss downfield, but Bush schools three of Oakland's players within 10 yards
Not to mention all three are also near or inside the box.
What a run by Bush and his determination alone gets him through the final broken tackle en route to one awesome touchdown.
When facing some strong running teams as the season progresses, Oakland must improve at tackling. Otherwise, it's going to be another long and disappointing season for the Silver and Black.
