WWE: Monday Night Raw Sees Another Tough Week in Viewership

WWE has not been receiving any luck recently in growing its viewership since moving Monday Night Raw to three hours. The Monday, September 10 edition of Raw couldn't break WWE's recent slide.

On Monday night, WWE Raw saw a slight rise in viewership from last week's edition (via TV By the Numbers). Despite the slight rise, WWE struggled to gain much positive momentum on its Night of Champions go-home show. 

Raw scored just 3.77 million viewers during its first hour. The second hour peaked at 4.36 million viewers. However, Raw's third hour dropped to 4.27 million viewers. Raw peaked with a 1.6 rating in Adults 18-49 during its third hour. 

Overall on Cable Television's Top 50 ranking list, WWE Raw inched higher.

Is the WWE Tiring Viewers?

After seeing Monday Night Raw struggle again with its first hour, WWE needs to seriously consider moving the show back to two hours. The third hour has been a constant battle for the WWE, as viewers just do not seem to be interested in watching whatever Raw has to present. Unless WWE can make the first hour exciting to watch, it is simply a useless format to present to viewers.

Sure, the first hour can be used as filler and to help promote rising stars in the making, but WWE needs to find an answer on how not to make Raw tiring to watch. Despite featuring the return of WWE legend Bret Hart, Raw just seemed to never gain momentum throughout the night, as Monday Night Football landed over 10 million viewers, earning the No. 1 spot on cable television. 

With football back into full swing, along with the fall television lineup, WWE may see its viewership plunge even further. It will be essential for the WWE to improve its current product to keep viewership at a consistent level before heading into its most important time next year, which is its WrestleMania season.
