Mark Sanchez and More Week 1 Fantasy Stars Who Will Struggle in Week 2
Analysis after Week 1 in the NFL is always filled with overreactions. Teams that exceeded expectations are suddenly bound for the playoffs and players who posted big numbers are now All-Pros. The same can be said for fantasy football.
Due to that, it's important that fantasy owners don't get caught up in the results from Week 1. One great performance doesn't mean a player will put up those type of stats every week. So proceed with caution before hitting the waiver wire.
With that in mind, let's take a look at three players who scored big in Week 1, but won't be able to match those good showings in Week 2.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
QB: Mark Sanchez
The New York Jets offense couldn't get out of its own way during the preseason and proceeded to score points seemingly at will against an improved Buffalo Bills defense. The most surprising player was Sanchez, who passed for 266 yards and three touchdowns.
Heading into the season the biggest question was about when Tim Tebow would take over under center. Now it's whether or not Sanchez is worthy of being a fantasy starter. Even though Week 1 would suggest otherwise, the answer is still no.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will ensure he comes back down to Earth on Sunday. Sanchez is still too inconsistent and his receivers aren't reliable enough yet for him to score big on a weekly basis.
RB: Michael Bush
Owners of Matt Forte had their nightmares realized in Week 1 when Bush assumed the role of touchdown vulture. He scored twice—both from one yard out—as the Chicago Bears rolled up 41 points on the Indianapolis Colts.
The biggest problem, when it comes to Bush, is that it's too difficult to predict touchdowns. When a running back is going to receive 20 touches, he can still be counted to serve as a productive fantasy player thanks to the yards.
That's not true for a back who relies on touchdowns as the main source of his points. So if Bush doesn't find the end zone, he's going to hurt a lot of fantasy teams.
Owners are better off leaving him on the waiver wire ahead of Thursday's clash with the Green Bay Packers.
WR: James Jones
Jones wouldn't have been near the top of the list when predicting what Packers pass catcher would score the most points in Week 1. Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson and Jermichael Finley would have been the top picks. Even Randall Cobb would have probably been ahead of Jones.
Yet, it was the sixth-year veteran who caught four passes for 81 yards and a touchdown to beat out all of those popular fantasy football targets. In a high-powered offense like Green Bay's, that would seemingly make hit a hot fantasy commodity.
Not so fast. Those four other players are still ahead of him in Aaron Rodgers' pecking order moving forward. Jones might be worth owning as an emergency flex player, but don't expect consistent numbers owners need from a starting wideout.
