John Skelton Expected to Miss a Couple Weeks; Plus More NFC West News
Heading into Sunday's game against Seattle, John Skelton was 7-4 as a starting quarterback in two seasons of play. And without the help of Kevin Kolb in relief duty, he may have dropped to 7-5. Before Skelton left the game with a low ankle sprain early in the fourth, the team had picked up less than 50 yards of total offense in the second half.
It's hard to tell exactly how it happened, but to me it appears as if Bruce Irvin rolled up on it as Brandon Mebane was making the hit. Regardless, Kevin Kolb is now the starter for the next month or so, and his first assignment will be against the New England Patriots in Week 2.

Kolb's late-game heroics couldn't have been better even if they were scripted. On his one full drive of the game he was 6-of-8 for 66 yards and one touchdown. After the game he acknowledged how incredible that drive was: “It was pretty special, I’m not going to lie,” said Kolb.
Even the defensive unit offered up accolades to No. 4. The only thing safety Adrian Wilson wanted to talk about was how poetic Kolb was on offense:
"I want to talk about Kevin Kolb. Let’s talk about how poetic that was. John got all the reps, and he (Kolb) came in there and led the game-winning drive. Defensively, we just went out there and did our job. Kevin is really the one that should be talked about right now.
"
That kind of a performance was just what he needed to get his confidence back. If the Cardinals want to keep Kolb productive they need to keep playing to his strengths: Make sure to get the ball out quickly and call short passing plays.
With that, let's take a look at the rest of the news around the NFC West.
