WWE: Why a Feud with Randy Orton Is Exactly What Dolph Ziggler Needs

Michael PrunkaSep 1, 2012

By winning the World Heavyweight Championship contract Money in the Bank match back in July, Dolph Ziggler all but sealed his future status as a main-event star. Some expected his rise to be meteoric. Others expected a more gradual build toward a World Heavyweight Championship reign.

Ziggler's first feud as Mr. Money in the Bank was with Chris Jericho. Although brief, Ziggler vs. Jericho was an excellent feud. The two had arguably the best match on the SummerSlam card and their rematch the following night did not disappoint.

Despite losing at SummerSlam, the "Show-Off" would come out victorious in the feud by forcing "Y2J" out of the WWE.

What's next for Ziggler? To ensure that whenever he cashes-in he has a successful reign as World Heavyweight Champion, the WWE can't afford to let Ziggler sit idly without a feud.

Enter Randy Orton.

"The Viper" is one of the most popular baby-faces on the roster. He managed to pin Ziggler clean on the Aug. 31 edition of Smackdown. Now it's Ziggler's move.

Physically or verbally, all Ziggler has to do is retaliate. All is takes is, for example, Ziggler interfering in a big match and costing Orton the victory.

Just like Jericho was on his way out, it's been reported that Orton will be taking time off to film the new 12 Rounds sequel. Unlike Jericho, though, Orton will only be gone for a few weeks.

Losing to Ziggler at Night of Champions and then receiving some sort of brutal post-match beating is the perfect way to write Orton off of television. Ziggler will get a lot of heat for having put Jericho and Orton out of commission.

Ziggler would then be in the perfect position to cash-in Money in the Bank and win the World Heavyweight Championship from Sheamus. When Orton is done filming, a feud between him and Ziggler over the title will write itself.
